Web design for handyman services
The list on the fridge has been there since March.
A door that sticks, a shelf that never went up, a dripping tap, two fence panels and a light fitting still in its box. None of it is worth a tradesman's callout on its own, all of it together is a comfortable day's work, and the customer has no idea that is exactly what you do. A website that names the small jobs and publishes a half-day rate turns that fridge list into a booking. We build it, host it and look after it, with a £0 upfront website design fee.
- Per month: £49.99
- Upfront website design fee: £0

The job list
Name forty small jobs and people recognise their own.
"General maintenance" makes nobody think of anything. A list of the actual jobs makes somebody think "that is my hallway", and that recognition is the entire conversion mechanism on a handyman's website.

Fixing and hanging
The jobs people have the tools for and not the confidence.
- Shelves, mirrors and curtain poles
- TV wall mounting
- Pictures, blinds and coat hooks

Repairs
The things that have been annoying somebody daily for months.
- Doors that stick or will not close
- Dripping taps and running toilets
- Sealant, grout and draughts

Assembly and outside
The weekend jobs people start and regret starting.
- Flat-pack furniture
- Fence panels and gates
- Gutters, sheds and garden jobs
Just as important is what you will not do. Gas work and anything requiring a registered electrician should be named as jobs you refer on, because saying so is the mark of somebody who knows where the line is.
Where you go
Small jobs only work close to home.
A two-hour job forty minutes away is not a job, it is a favour. The whole economics of this trade depend on a tight radius, and saying exactly where you work means the enquiries that arrive are ones worth taking.
- Half a day close, a full day further
A sensible rule and worth publishing. It explains your travel policy without sounding like you are turning people away.
- Villages win the searches
Kesgrave and Martlesham are what people type. "East Suffolk" is not, and it is far harder to rank for anyway.
- One street, several jobs
Neighbours talk about a good handyman more than almost any other trade. A tight radius compounds, which is why it is worth protecting.
Nearest first, then the towns you will travel to for a full day.
Rates
Publish the half-day rate. It is what people are working out.
Somebody with a list is trying to guess whether it is a hundred pounds or four hundred, and if they cannot tell they put it off again. An hourly, half-day and day rate answers it instantly and gets the list sent.
- Sell the half day, not the hour
An hourly rate makes people ration the list. A half day makes them add to it, which is better for both of you.
- Say how materials work
At cost with receipts, or supplied by the customer. It is the second question every single time and it takes one line.
- Be clear about parking and access
City-centre parking charges and awkward access are worth mentioning up front rather than discovering at the door.
Rates shown are the example business's illustrative figures. Yours are your own, and we change them whenever you want.
On a phone
The list is on a phone, so the site has to be too.
Somebody standing in the hallway looking at the door that sticks is not going to open a laptop. They will search, glance at two sites, and message whichever one made it easiest.
- Let them photograph the job
One picture of the sticking door tells you more than three messages. A form that accepts photos is the single most useful thing on a handyman's website.
- Rate visible without scrolling
It is the only number they came for. Putting it in the first screen removes the reason to keep looking.
- Message, not a form
Plenty of people would rather send a photo by message than fill anything in. Whichever route they prefer should be one tap away.
Your site plan
Four pages, and the job list is the important one.
A handyman does not need a big website. It needs to make somebody realise you do exactly the things on their fridge list, and tell them what it will cost.

The logic of SEO
Handyman customers come back four times a year.
Website + SEO is optional monthly work on how easily local customers find you, aimed at three searches agreed with you. Almost nobody in this trade thinks about repeat work, and yet a customer who liked you has another list within a few months.
The kind of searches SEO works on
- handyman Ipswich
- flat pack assembly Ipswich
- odd jobs Ipswich
£349.99/month total, website included. SEO never promises a position, a number of enquiries or a revenue figure. It promises the work, every month.
Already have a website you are happy with? Ongoing SEO is only available with the managed website, as Website + SEO — PrimeStart does not run SEO on a site it does not host. If you would rather keep your current site, talk to us first and we will tell you honestly whether moving it across is worth it.
- 1
A website that lists the jobs
Three handymen compared on a phone. The one whose page names the exact job they are looking at, with a price, gets the message. The other two are a phone number and a hope.
- 2
Found by the people already looking
The SEO work is monthly work on the local searches, your Google Business Profile and the listings that decide who appears when somebody near you types handyman near me.
- 3
Job searches beat trade searches
"Flat pack assembly" and "TV wall mounting" are searched by people who have already decided to pay somebody. They convert far better than the general term.
- 4
One good customer is four days a year
Get the first list right and they have you back for the next one, and they tell their street. Local visibility compounds unusually fast in this trade.
We research your area first, recommend three that make commercial sense, explain why, and agree them with you before any work starts.
Your Client Platform
Change your day rate the week you change it.
Every PrimeStart customer gets their own Client Platform. It is where the project lives: the stage it has reached, what we are waiting on, the draft to look through, and the button that says you are happy with it.
- Follow the build stage by stage, without emailing to ask
- Send photographs of finished jobs straight from your phone
- Message PrimeStart directly, with the whole thread in one place
- Preview the draft on a laptop and a phone, and mark up changes
- Approve the website before anything goes live
- Ask for changes afterwards, and order services when you need them
- See your SEO report, tracked searches and recommendations each month (Website + SEO)
There is nothing technical to learn. One login to your Client Platform, and you never have to open WordPress.

The plans
The same handyman website, with or without the monthly SEO work.
The Website is the whole thing: designed, built, hosted, managed and kept current, with your domain name included. Website + SEO adds monthly work on how easily local customers find it. Clear pricing. Straightforward terms. No surprises.
A handyman website that names the actual jobs, publishes a half-day rate and takes a photo with the enquiry.
Designers usually charge for the build before the website exists. We absorb that cost and recover it through the monthly service, which is why the plan carries a minimum term, and why there is nothing to pay up front beyond the first month.
Complete the term and the website is yours: stay with us on a rolling basis with no new minimum, or move it to hosting of your own.
Want PrimeStart working on how customers find you? Website + SEO is £349.99 a month in total, with the same website included. The same managed website, plus monthly work on three agreed local searches, aimed at the job names rather than the trade name. How SEO works

How it works
Your part takes less time than one call-out.
Choose a plan, send us your rates and the jobs you take on, then tell us what to change on the draft. We do the rest.
- 1
Choose your plan
Website, or Website + SEO. The upfront website design fee is £0 and your first monthly payment is taken at signup.
- 2
Tell us the job list
A short onboarding in your Client Platform: the jobs you take on and refuse, your rates, how materials work, the villages you cover, and where enquiries should land.
- 3
Ready to Build
We check we have what we need. If a rate or a service needs a decision, we say exactly which, and get on with the rest.
- 4
First draft
A working draft on a phone first: the job list, the rates, and the photo form.
- 5
Approve and launch
Reasonable in-scope changes, then you approve it. Nothing is published until you say so.
We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment alone doesn’t start the clock; missing details, revisions or domain delays can extend it.
You review the draft and request reasonable in-scope changes. If there’s a genuine problem we can’t put right within scope after reasonable attempts, we can cancel the agreement and refund Website subscription payments made, subject to any disclosed non-recoverable third-party costs.
