London

The biggest market in the country, and the least forgiving of a poor first impression.

London is not one place. It is a few hundred neighbourhoods, each with its own high street, its own housing stock and its own habits. A roofer in Walthamstow, an accountant in Clerkenwell, a hair salon in Clapham and a kitchen fitter in Ealing are all London businesses, and they have almost nothing in common except the way their customers find them: a search on a phone, three or four results compared in under a minute, and one call.

That first minute is where a London website earns its keep. The competition is deeper here than anywhere else in the UK, so the business that states clearly what it does, names the areas it actually covers in the words locals use, shows real work and makes the next step obvious is the one that gets rung. The one that looks like a template, or lists a postcode nobody searches for, gets scrolled past.

We design the website around your London. Your services, your photographs, the boroughs and neighbourhoods you cover, the number you want calls to go to and the way you like to be contacted, put together as a professional WordPress website and then hosted, secured and kept up to date by PrimeStart for one monthly price. Nothing is published until you have approved it, and there is no office to visit because there is nothing you need to visit for.

What we build

A London website, designed around the neighbourhoods you cover.

Hackney Wick Plumbing & Heating is the example we build to: a fictional east London plumber, shown on a laptop and on the phone most of its customers will actually use. The same care goes into a Clapham salon or an Ealing kitchen fitter.

  • Custom-designed for the tradeA plumber's site is built around the emergency and the planned job. A salon's around photographs and booking. The structure follows how your customers choose, not a template.
  • Your neighbourhoods, written the way Londoners searchDalston, Stoke Newington and Walthamstow, not "London and surrounding areas". Every page names the places you actually cover.
  • Services in your customers' wordsNamed the way people type them into a phone at the bus stop, with the jobs you want more of first.
  • Two ways in, both one tapA call button that stays in reach as they scroll, and a short enquiry form that lands in your inbox with enough to price the job.
  • Generally five pages, all of them earningHome, services, areas covered, about and credentials, contact. Enough to answer every question a London customer has, and nothing thin.

Hackney Wick Plumbing & Heating is an example business, designed to show the standard we build to. Not a named customer. Web design for plumbers has a page of its own.

Before they ring

In London a business is judged on a phone screen before anyone hears its name.

A customer in Walthamstow with water coming through the ceiling does not read three websites. They glance at three, and one of them looks like a real, local, awake business. That is the one they ring. The same happens, more slowly, to the family in Wandsworth comparing loft conversions and the start-up in Clerkenwell choosing an accountant.

The website is doing the first interview for you, and in London it is doing it against more competition than anywhere else in the country. Three things settle it: whether the site names the customer's own neighbourhood, whether it shows work that looks like their job, and whether the next step is one tap away.

How a website actually brings in work for a London trade

The same business three ways: a listing on a directory, an out-of-date website, and a PrimeStart website with services, areas and a clear way to get in touch.

London searches are local searches. SEO works on the ones that matter to you.

A burst pipe in Hackney, a loft conversion in Wandsworth, a new lease on a high street in Ealing: each one starts as a search with a neighbourhood in it. Website + SEO is ongoing monthly work on three agreed searches like these, with the website included, so more of those customers have the chance to find your business.

  1. 01
    “emergency plumber Hackney

Older terraces, converted flats and a lot of landlords keep this search busy at all hours. Customers want to see the areas covered, a registration and a number that answers.

  2. 02
    “loft conversion Wandsworth

A high-value job that is researched carefully over weeks. The website has to show finished work, explain the process and make it easy to ask for a quote.

  3. 03
    “accountant for small business Clerkenwell

Chosen on clarity and trust. A clear list of who the practice works with and how to get in touch does more than any amount of jargon.

Examples only. Your three searches are agreed with you around the work you want more of and what people in your part of London actually type. Each month the work is research, page improvements, your Google Business Profile, local listings and a report of what was done. Nobody can promise a position, and we don't.

Managed, not handed over

You run the business. We run the website.

The monthly figure is not for a website file. It is for a website that stays built, hosted, secure, current and looked after, for as long as you are with us.

You never have to

  • Learn WordPress, or ever log into it
  • Buy hosting, a domain name or an SSL certificate
  • Run updates, or restore a backup after something breaks
  • Work out why the enquiry form stopped arriving
  • Rebuild the site every few years because it looks dated
  • Find a designer when you add a service or a new part of London

PrimeStart does

  • Design and build the website around your business and your part of London
  • Host it, with your domain name and SSL included
  • Keep it secure, backed up and updated every month
  • Keep the forms and the call button reaching you
  • Build and test it for phones first, because that is where London chooses
  • Make reasonable small changes when you ask, such as a new area, a new service or new photographs, subject to fair use

How it works, step by step

Phone first, properly

Chosen on a phone, on the bus, between two stops.

Most London searches for a local business happen on a mobile, often on the move. The site is designed for that screen first, and the laptop version is laid out afterwards.

  • Your number is the biggest thing on the screen

A tap-to-call button that stays in reach as they scroll, and a WhatsApp link if you prefer that.

  • Neighbourhoods before anything else

The opening line says where you work, so the wrong side of the river leaves and the right one keeps reading.

  • Quick on the Underground's signal

Photographs are compressed and loaded as needed, so the page opens on patchy mobile data, not just on office wifi.

  • A form that asks the right questions

What the job is, where, and a photograph. Enquiries reach you with enough to price it from the van.

Your Client Platform

One place to see where your website is up to, wherever in London you are.

Every PrimeStart customer gets their own Client Platform from the day they sign up. It is where the project happens: no chasing by email, no wondering what stage you are at, and after launch, where you send the next set of photographs.

  • Follow the build stage by stage, from onboarding to launch
  • Message PrimeStart without digging out an email thread
  • Send your logo, certificates and photographs of finished work
  • Preview the draft on a laptop and a phone, and ask for changes page by page
  • Approve the website before anything is published
  • See your plan and payments, and ask for changes or support after launch
  • See your SEO report, tracked searches and recommendations each month (Website + SEO)

Most customers open it on a phone, between jobs.

Need something extra later? No problem. PrimeStart customers can order additional services such as extra pages, branding and one-off optimisation through their client dashboard whenever they need them.

Safe to say yes to

Four things you can hold us to.

  1. Nothing goes live until you approve it

You see the first draft on a phone and a laptop, ask for reasonable in-scope changes under the Pre-Launch Design Promise, and the website is published only when you say so.

  2. No bill for the build

The upfront website design fee is £0. Your first monthly payment is taken at signup, and every figure is stated in full before you agree to anything.

  3. The website is yours after the term

Complete the 18-month minimum term and the website belongs to you: stay on a rolling month, or take it elsewhere.

  4. One place to see where things are

Your own Client Platform, from the day you sign up: the stage the project is at, what is needed from you, your messages, your files, your plan and your payments.

Every price and term, in one place

How it works

Your part is short.

Choose a plan, tell us about the business, review the draft. We do everything in between, and nothing is published until you approve it.

See the full process, start to finish

  1. 1

    Choose your plan

Pick Website or Website + SEO. Your first monthly payment is taken at signup.

  2. 2

    Tell us about the business

A short onboarding in your Client Platform: services, areas, anything you want highlighted, your logo, any photos and the number you want calls to go to.

  3. 3

    Ready to Build

We check we have what we need. If something's missing we'll say exactly what, and work with what you have where we can.

  4. 4

    First draft

You see a working draft of your site, on desktop and phone, and tell us what to change.

  5. 5

    Approve and launch

Reasonable in-scope revisions, then you approve it. Nothing goes live until you say so.

Timing, stated properly

We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment alone doesn’t start the clock; missing details, revisions or domain delays can extend it.

Before you approve

You review the draft and request reasonable in-scope changes. If there’s a genuine problem we can’t put right within scope after reasonable attempts, we can cancel the agreement and refund Website subscription payments made, subject to any disclosed non-recoverable third-party costs.

London industries

Built around the trade first, then around your part of London.

A plumber in Islington and a salon in Clapham need very different websites. Each starts from how its customers choose, then adds the neighbourhoods it covers.

Across London

Your part of London, in more detail.

The site we build names the neighbourhoods you cover. If you want the local context for your side of the city, each part of London has a page of its own.

Questions

Questions from London businesses

Do you work with businesses across the whole of London?
Yes. PrimeStart works with trades and small businesses in every London borough, from the City and Westminster out to Barnet, Croydon, Hounslow and Enfield, and with businesses across the rest of the UK. The website is designed, built and managed remotely, so there is nothing to visit and no office to travel to.
How much does a business website cost in London with PrimeStart?
£49.99 a month for Website, with a £0 upfront website design fee. The price is the same in London as everywhere else. Your first monthly payment is taken at signup and the Website has an 18-month minimum term, £899.82 in total. Complete that term and the website is yours.
Can the site cover several parts of London, or just one?
As many as you actually serve. Customers search with a neighbourhood or borough name far more often than they search for London, so the site states the areas you cover in the words locals use, whether that is one postcode or a run of boroughs across a whole side of the city.
Will it work properly on my customers' phones?
It is built for the phone first. Most London searches for a local business happen on a mobile, often on the move, so the call button, the areas and the services are designed for that screen before the laptop version is laid out. You see the first draft on a phone as well as a laptop before anything is published.
I already have a domain name. Can you use it?
Yes. If you already own a domain we work with it. If you don't, one is included in the Website and managed by PrimeStart alongside the hosting and the SSL certificate. Either way there is nothing for you to renew or configure.
What does SEO do for a London business?
Website + SEO is £349.99 a month in total, with the website included rather than charged on top. Each month we work on three agreed local searches, for example "emergency plumber hackney", alongside your Google Business Profile, local listings and the site itself, and report on what was done in your Client Platform. The SEO work has a 6-month minimum, and every month of it counts towards the 18-month Website term too. It is designed to create more opportunities for the right local customers to find you. Nobody can promise rankings, and we don't.
Who writes the words, and how soon will I see a first draft?
We write them, from what you tell us during onboarding about your services, your part of London and how you like to be contacted. We aim to have your first draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build; payment and onboarding alone don't start that period. Nothing is published until you approve it.
What happens after the 18 months?
The website is yours. Stay with PrimeStart at £49.99 a month on a rolling basis with no new minimum term, or move the website to hosting of your own. Transfer is subject to the third-party licences any website relies on, such as WordPress, plugins, fonts and stock photography.
