Web design for accountants
Clients are not buying accounts. They are buying not worrying.
Nobody wakes up wanting a set of statutory accounts. They want to stop lying awake about a deadline, stop wondering whether they are paying too much tax, and stop feeling stupid for not understanding their own numbers. A practice website that speaks to that, publishes fees and explains what switching involves does far better than one listing compliance services. We build it that way, host it and look after it, with a £0 upfront website design fee.
- Per month: £49.99
- Upfront website design fee: £0

Who you help
Four businesses, four completely different worries.
A practice website that addresses "businesses" addresses nobody. Splitting by where somebody actually is lets each of them recognise themselves in about four seconds, which is roughly how long you have.
Frightened of getting it wrong
First self assessment coming, no idea what can be claimed, worried about a penalty for something they did not know about. They want reassurance and a fixed fee, not a services list.
What the site leads with
- Self assessment
- What to claim
- Fixed fee
Outgrown doing it themselves
Turnover has climbed, there is a payroll now, and the spreadsheet has stopped being adequate. They want somebody to take it off them and tell them what the numbers mean.
What the site leads with
- Accounts and tax
- Payroll
- Management figures
Ready to move, unsure how
Slow replies, surprise invoices, or work filed at the last minute every year. The only thing stopping them is thinking switching is difficult, which is why that page matters so much.
What the site leads with
- Switching
- Handover
- No gap
A specific situation, specific rules
Property income, several roles, or working through a company. They want somebody who has done their exact situation before rather than a generalist.
What the site leads with
- Property
- Contracting
- Specific rules
The home page routes these four apart. Everything after that is written for one of them at a time, which is the whole difference between a practice site that converts and one that does not.
What you do
Services described as "what you stop having to do".
Every accountancy website lists the same services in the same order using the same words. Describing what each one takes off the client's plate, and when it is due, is more useful and considerably more persuasive.

- 01
Annual accounts and corporation tax
What you prepare, what the deadlines are, and what the client needs to give you. The bit they know they need and understand least.
- 02
Self assessment
Who needs to file, when, and what happens if it is late. Written for somebody who is genuinely anxious about it rather than for a peer.
- 03
VAT
Registration thresholds, the schemes available, and digital filing obligations. A common source of quiet panic among growing businesses.
- 04
Payroll and pensions
Running payroll, auto-enrolment duties and the paperwork that comes with a first employee. Often the moment a business first needs an accountant.
- 05
Bookkeeping and management accounts
The monthly work that turns a shoebox into figures somebody can make decisions from. Where the ongoing relationship really lives.
- 06
Advice when something changes
Incorporating, taking on staff, buying a vehicle, selling up. The conversations clients value most and almost no practice website mentions.
We describe the services you offer and the deadlines that apply, in general terms. We do not give tax advice on your website or state what any particular client should do.
Qualifications
"Accountant" is not a protected title. Yours might be.
Anybody in the UK can call themselves an accountant. Chartered and certified designations, on the other hand, are restricted to members of the relevant bodies, and clients who know that look for them. If you hold one, it belongs prominently rather than as a small logo in the footer.
We display exactly what you and your people hold and nothing beyond it: no borrowed designations, no implied memberships, no invented experience.
Things we'll display if you hold them
- Your professional body membership and the designation you are entitled to use
- Whether the practice is registered or regulated by that body
- Your anti-money-laundering supervision
- Professional indemnity insurance, with the level carried
- Registered agent status with the tax authority
- The software you work in, and whether you support the client's
- Your complaints procedure
- Reviews wherever they already live, within your professional body's rules
Designations such as chartered or certified accountant are restricted to members of the relevant bodies and their use is governed by those bodies' rules. You tell us exactly what you are entitled to display, and that is what appears.
Where clients come from
Accountancy is still bought locally, even when it need not be.
Almost nothing about modern practice requires the client to be nearby: records are digital, meetings happen on a screen, and the filing goes to the same place wherever you sit. Yet the searches remain stubbornly local, because a small business owner handing over their entire financial position wants to feel they could drive to your office if something went badly wrong. Naming your town and the ones around it is worth far more than a regional description.
The other route in is recommendation, and it behaves the same way. A client tells somebody at a networking breakfast, that person searches your name, and what they find in the next minute decides whether they ring. A site with fees, qualifications and a clear route to a first call converts that recommendation; a brochure of service headings usually does not.

Your site plan
Five pages, and one of them is about leaving somebody else.
The switching page is the most underrated page in the whole sector. Most new clients are not new to accountancy; they are unhappy with the accountant they have and think moving is a nightmare.

Your Client Platform
Update your fees the week they change.
Every PrimeStart customer gets their own Client Platform. It is where the project lives while it is being built, and where you ask for changes once it is live.
- Follow the build stage by stage, without emailing to ask
- Send documents and photographs straight from your phone
- Message PrimeStart directly, with the whole thread in one place
- Preview the draft on a phone before anybody else sees it
- Approve the website before it goes live
- Ask for changes afterwards, and order services when you need them
- See your SEO report, tracked searches and recommendations each month (Website + SEO)
There is nothing technical to learn and no WordPress to open. One login, and the rest is us.

SEO
Three searches, and one client can stay for a decade.
Website + SEO is optional monthly work on how easily local customers find you, aimed at three searches agreed with you. Accountancy has exceptional client retention, which makes each new one worth many times the first year's fee.
- £349.99/monthTotal. The website is included: the £49.99 Website is not added on top.
- 3 searchesAgreed with you at the start. Additional agreed search targets are £50/month each.
- Monthly workSearch and competitor research, website improvements, Google Business Profile work, local listings, technical monitoring and a clear monthly report in your Client Platform.
- 6-month minimumAfter the SEO minimum you can continue, or stop the SEO work and keep the Website for the rest of its 18-month term. Every month of it counts towards both.
Nobody can promise a position on Google, and we do not. What we commit to is the agreed work every month, tracking what happens, and changing course when the evidence says to.
- 01“accountant near me Exeter”
The broad one. Still overwhelmingly local, because most small business owners want somebody they could sit down with even if they never actually do.
- 02“small business accountant Exeter”
Better qualified. Somebody typing this has a business and knows they need help, rather than shopping for the cheapest self assessment.
- 03“switching accountants Exeter”
The quiet winner. Low volume, extremely high intent, and almost nobody targets it. Everyone searching it is an established business already paying fees to somebody else.
January is by far the heaviest month for self assessment searches, and visibility for it has to be built in the autumn. We research your area first, recommend three that make commercial sense, explain why, and agree them with you before any work starts. Additional agreed searches are +£50 a month each.
Already have a website you are happy with? Ongoing SEO is only available with the managed website, as Website + SEO — PrimeStart does not run SEO on a site it does not host. If you would rather keep your current site, talk to us first and we will tell you honestly whether moving it across is worth it.
The plans
The same practice website, with or without the monthly SEO work.
The Website is the whole thing: designed, built, hosted, managed and kept current, with your domain name included. Website + SEO adds monthly work on how easily local customers find it. Clear pricing. Straightforward terms. No surprises.
An accountancy website written for the client's worry rather than the practice's service list, with fees in the open.
Designers usually charge for the build before the website exists. We absorb that cost and recover it through the monthly service, which is why the plan carries a minimum term, and why there is nothing to pay up front beyond the first month.
Complete the term and the website is yours: stay with us on a rolling basis with no new minimum, or move it to hosting of your own.

How it works
Your part is one evening and a fee schedule.
Choose a plan, send us your services and fees, then tell us what to change on the draft. We do the rest.
- 1
Choose your plan
Website, or Website + SEO. The upfront website design fee is £0 and your first monthly payment is taken at signup.
- 2
Send us the practice details
A short onboarding in your Client Platform: your services and fees, who you work with, your qualifications and regulation, your software, and where enquiries should land.
- 3
Ready to Build
We check we have what we need. If a fee or a regulatory line needs a decision, we say exactly which, and get on with the rest.
- 4
First draft
A working draft on a laptop and a phone: the four client types, the fees, and the switching page.
- 5
Approve and launch
Reasonable in-scope changes, then you approve it. Nothing is published until you say so.
We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment alone doesn’t start the clock; missing details, revisions or domain delays can extend it.
You review the draft and request reasonable in-scope changes. If there’s a genuine problem we can’t put right within scope after reasonable attempts, we can cancel the agreement and refund Website subscription payments made, subject to any disclosed non-recoverable third-party costs.

Can you say we are chartered?
How quickly will I see a first draft?
What is SEO, and do I need it to start?
You look after the numbers. We'll look after the website.
