Web design for financial advisers

People search when life changes, not when markets do.

A redundancy package, an inheritance, a pension they have finally looked at, a birthday that made retirement feel real. That is when somebody types your kind of search, and what they need is not commentary on markets. They need to know who you are, whether you are independent, what you charge and that a first meeting will not commit them to anything. We build the site for that, host it and look after it, with a £0 upfront website design fee.

  • Per month: £49.99
  • Upfront website design fee: £0

Regulation

Independent or restricted is the first thing to say.

It is a material distinction, it must be disclosed, and it is one of the few genuine differentiators in this profession. A firm that states its status clearly and early reads as confident; one that is vague about it invites exactly the suspicion the sector has spent years trying to shake.

We display exactly what your firm holds and nothing beyond it. We never describe advice as independent unless you tell us it is, imply authorisation, or publish a financial promotion you have not approved.

  • Your regulatory status, and whether you are directly authorised or an appointed representative
  • Your firm reference number and the register statement your compliance requires
  • Whether your advice is independent or restricted, stated plainly
  • Your charging structure, and how and when charges are paid
  • The risk warnings your compliance function requires on the relevant pages
  • Chartered or certified status where the firm or individuals genuinely hold it
  • Your complaints procedure and the ombudsman route
  • Reviews handled within the rules that apply to financial promotions

Who you help

Life events, not product categories.

Nobody searches for "decumulation strategy". They search around the thing that has happened to them, and a site organised around those moments is both easier to find and far easier to recognise yourself in.

  1. 01

    Approaching retirement

The largest and most valuable group. Several pensions, a vague plan and a date that has started to feel real. What a first meeting covers matters more here than any description of investment philosophy.

  2. 02

    A pension they have found

An old workplace scheme, a transfer question, or simply not knowing what they have. Written carefully, because some of this work is high-risk advice and the page should not encourage a particular action.

  3. 03

An inheritance or a lump sum

Money arriving alongside a bereavement or a sale, and a person who does not want to make a mistake with it. Sensitivity matters more than sophistication.

  4. 04

    Redundancy or a career change

Often a settlement figure and a period of uncertainty. Time-sensitive, and one of the most common reasons somebody seeks advice for the first time.

  5. 05

    Business owners

Extracting profit, pensions through the company, and eventually selling. Usually arrives through an accountant referral rather than a search.

  6. 06

    Later life and estate planning

Passing things on, care costs and powers of attorney. Frequently a conversation started by the client's children rather than by the client.

These pages describe the circumstances you advise on and what a first meeting involves. They do not recommend any course of action, product or provider, and they do not constitute advice.

How you work

The first meeting, and what it does not commit them to.

The barrier to financial advice is almost never the fee. It is the fear of being sold something, of being judged for not having done more sooner, and of a meeting that turns into a commitment. Describing the process removes all three.

See the full process, start to finish

  1. 1

    A short call first

Fifteen minutes to work out whether you are the right firm for what they need, at no cost and with no obligation. The lowest possible first step.

  2. 2

    The first meeting

What it covers, how long it takes, whether it is at your cost, and that it ends with a decision about whether to go further rather than with a recommendation.

  3. 3

    Understanding the position

What information you will need and why. Being explicit that this takes time reads as thoroughness rather than delay.

  4. 4

    Your recommendations, in writing

What you propose, why, what it will cost and what the alternatives were. Delivered and explained rather than emailed and assumed.

  5. 5

    Ongoing service, or not

Whether there is an ongoing service, what it includes and what it costs annually. Clients want to know they are not signing up to something indefinite by accident.

Timing, stated properly

We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment alone doesn’t start the clock; missing details, revisions or domain delays can extend it.

Before you approve

You review the draft and request reasonable in-scope changes. If there’s a genuine problem we can’t put right within scope after reasonable attempts, we can cancel the agreement and refund Website subscription payments made, subject to any disclosed non-recoverable third-party costs.

Charges

Publish how you charge. It is the question behind every hesitation.

People have been told that financial advice is expensive, that advisers earn commission, and that the fees are hidden in the product. Some of that used to be true and some of it never was, and the confusion keeps people from seeking advice they would benefit from. Setting out how you charge — a fee, a percentage, an hourly rate, whatever it is — and when it becomes payable is the single most useful thing on the site.

It is also a regulatory expectation rather than a marketing choice, so it may as well be done well. Firms that show a worked illustration of what advice might cost, alongside a clear statement that the first conversation is free, get better-qualified enquiries and considerably fewer meetings that end at the price.

Your site plan

Five pages, and none of them contains advice.

The site's job is to get somebody to a conversation with a qualified adviser. Everything else — commentary, market updates, product explanations — adds risk without adding enquiries.

Your Client Platform

Update a charge or a risk warning the day it changes.

Every PrimeStart customer gets their own Client Platform. It is where the project lives while it is being built, and where you ask for changes once it is live.

  • Follow the build stage by stage, without emailing to ask
  • Send documents straight from your phone
  • Message PrimeStart directly, with the whole thread in one place
  • Preview the draft on a phone before anybody else sees it
  • Approve the website before it goes live
  • Ask for changes afterwards, and order services when you need them
  • See your SEO report, tracked searches and recommendations each month (Website + SEO)

More about the Client Platform

SEO

Low volume, very high value, and mostly ignored.

Website + SEO is optional monthly work on how easily local customers find you, aimed at three searches agreed with you. Advice firms grow on referrals and often neglect search entirely, which leaves the local results unusually winnable.

  • £349.99/monthTotal. The website is included: the £49.99 Website is not added on top.
  • 3 searchesAgreed with you at the start. Additional agreed search targets are £50/month each.
  • Monthly workSearch and competitor research, website improvements, Google Business Profile work, local listings, technical monitoring and a clear monthly report in your Client Platform.
  • 6-month minimumAfter the SEO minimum you can continue, or stop the SEO work and keep the Website for the rest of its 18-month term. Every month of it counts towards both.
What we don’t promise

This is an illustration of a results page, not a promise of a position. Nobody can guarantee where a website appears on Google, and we do not.

Three example searches

  1. financial adviser Bath
  2. independent financial adviser Bath
  3. retirement planning Bath

"Independent financial adviser" is searched deliberately by people who know the distinction and want it, which makes it a particularly good target for a genuinely independent firm. We research your area first, recommend three that make commercial sense, explain why, and agree them with you before any work starts. Additional agreed searches are +£50 a month each.

Already have a website you are happy with? Ongoing SEO is only available with the managed website, as Website + SEO — PrimeStart does not run SEO on a site it does not host. If you would rather keep your current site, talk to us first and we will tell you honestly whether moving it across is worth it.

The plans

The same advice firm website, with or without the monthly SEO work.

The Website is the whole thing: designed, built, hosted, managed and kept current, with your domain name included. Website + SEO adds monthly work on how easily local customers find it. Clear pricing. Straightforward terms. No surprises.

An advice firm website that discloses status and charges plainly and gets people to a first conversation.

Designers usually charge for the build before the website exists. We absorb that cost and recover it through the monthly service, which is why the plan carries a minimum term, and why there is nothing to pay up front beyond the first month.

Complete the term and the website is yours: stay with us on a rolling basis with no new minimum, or move it to hosting of your own.

Questions advice firms ask us

How much does a website for a financial advice firm cost?
£49.99 a month. The upfront website design fee is £0 and your first £49.99 payment is taken at signup. The Website runs on an 18-month minimum term: 18 monthly payments of £49.99, or £899.82 in total. That covers the design and build, managed hosting, your domain name, SSL, security, backups, WordPress and plugin updates, enquiry forms, basic Google foundations, reasonable small changes subject to fair use, and your Client Platform.
What happens at the end of the 18 months?
The website is yours. Once the minimum term is complete and the payments due under it have been made, you can stay with PrimeStart at £49.99 a month on a rolling basis with no new minimum term, or move the website elsewhere and arrange your own hosting. Transfer is subject to the relevant third-party licences, which we explain at the time.
Is the domain name included?
Yes. Your domain name is included in the Website and managed by PrimeStart alongside the hosting and the SSL certificate. If you already own one, we work with the domain you have.
Our website is a financial promotion. How do you handle that?
We treat it as one throughout. Status disclosures, risk warnings and charge information come from you and your compliance function, we place them where they belong on every relevant page, and nothing is published until your approval process has run. We will also flag a page that looks like it is missing something rather than assume.
Can you write market commentary or a blog for us?
We would advise against commentary. It is a promotion, it dates immediately, it creates ongoing compliance work and it brings almost no enquiries. If you want to publish, general explanatory pieces you write and approve are far safer than anything resembling a view on markets or products.
Should we publish our charges?
Yes. It is expected of you and it is genuinely effective: the firms that publish get enquiries from people who have already accepted the cost. A worked illustration alongside your charging basis works better than a percentage alone, provided your compliance team is comfortable with the example.
How quickly will I see a first draft?
We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment and onboarding alone do not start that period. Nothing is published until you have reviewed and approved it, and compliance approval usually adds time, which is expected.
What is SEO, and do I need it to start?
SEO is optional ongoing work on your visibility for three agreed local searches, at £349.99 a month in total with the Website included: the £49.99 is not charged on top. The SEO work has a 6-month minimum, and every month of it also counts towards the 18-month Website term. Search targets are chosen with the financial promotion rules in mind. Nobody can promise a position on Google or a number of enquiries, and we do not.
