Web design for business consultants
"Business consultant" tells a prospect nothing at all.
It is the most crowded and least meaningful description in professional services, and it is what most consultants lead with. The ones who get hired name a specific problem, for a specific kind of business, and describe an engagement somebody can picture agreeing to. That is a website problem before it is a marketing one. We build it that way, host it and look after it, with a £0 upfront website design fee.
- Per month: £49.99
- Upfront website design fee: £0

What you fix
Name the problem, in the words the owner uses at midnight.
Nobody searches for "operational excellence". They search, or ask a peer, about the specific thing keeping them awake. A site organised around recognisable problems does the qualifying for you and attracts the engagements you actually want.

- 01
We have grown and it stopped working
The classic. Systems that suited eight people are failing at thirty, everything routes through the founder, and nobody can say what anything costs. Extremely common and rarely named this plainly.
- 02
We are busy but not making money
Turnover up, margin down, and no clear view of where it is going. Often the first engagement, because it is measurable and the owner already suspects it.
- 03
The founder is the bottleneck
Every decision waits for one person who is exhausted. A delicate thing to say and enormously effective when said kindly, because they already know.
- 04
We need to be able to run without me
Preparing to step back, sell, or simply take a holiday. A distinct engagement with a distinct end point, and a very good one to be found for.
- 05
A specific function is broken
Operations, sales, finance or delivery. Narrower, easier to scope and often the way in to a broader relationship.
- 06
We need someone for six months
Interim leadership while somebody is recruited or after a departure. High value, defined length, and searched for by people with an urgent gap.
We write about the problems you actually take on and the work you actually do. No invented case studies, no fabricated client names or logos, and no claimed results you cannot evidence.
The engagement
Three shapes of work, so people can picture saying yes.
The commonest reason consultants lose an interested prospect is that the buyer cannot imagine what they would actually be agreeing to. Describing two or three defined shapes of engagement, with a length and a fee basis, removes the fear of the open-ended relationship.
Two or three weeks, fixed fee
You look at the business properly and report what is actually going on, with recommendations and a view on what is worth doing first. It ends. If they want more, that is a separate decision.
What the site leads with
- Fixed fee
- Defined end
- A written report
Three to six months, scoped
A defined piece of work with an outcome: a function rebuilt, a system implemented, a plan delivered and embedded. Priced against the scope rather than the hours.
What the site leads with
- Scoped
- An outcome
- Fixed or phased
A day or two a month
A standing arrangement for a business that wants a senior head available without a senior salary. Reviewed regularly, and cancellable, which is the part that makes it easy to start.
What the site leads with
- Monthly
- Senior input
- Reviewed
Publishing the shapes, with an honest fee range for each, converts far better than "every engagement is bespoke". Bespoke is true and it is also what somebody says when they do not want to talk about money.
The enquiry
A conversation, and a clear promise about what it is not.
Business owners assume a free consultation is a sales meeting, because it usually is. Saying explicitly that the first conversation is a conversation, and that you will say so if you are not the right person, is disarming and it converts.
- Ask what they have already tried
It tells you whether this is a real engagement or a repeat of something that failed, and it makes the prospect feel taken seriously rather than pitched at.
- Ask how long it has been going on
Eighteen months of a slipping margin is a business ready to spend money. Two weeks is somebody still hoping it resolves itself.
- Promise to turn them away
Consultants who say they will decline work that is not right for them get more of the work that is. It costs nothing and it separates you from everybody selling a methodology.
If you would rather people emailed or rang, that stays prominent. The form is for the ones who want to set out the situation before speaking to anybody.
Credibility
You are the product, so the site has to say who you are.
Consulting is bought on judgement, and judgement is inferred from experience. That makes the about page unusually important: what you actually ran, how big it was, what went wrong and what you learned. Vague seniority claims persuade nobody, while "I ran operations for a two-hundred-person manufacturer and made most of these mistakes myself" is worth the entire rest of the site.
The same applies to results. Real, evidenced outcomes with the client's permission are powerful; invented percentages are transparent and corrosive. Where you cannot name a client, describing the situation and the work without identifying them is perfectly honest and still convincing. What is not acceptable is a wall of logos for organisations you once ran a workshop for.
And because most consulting work still arrives by introduction, the site is usually being read by somebody who has already been given your name. They are not deciding whether consultants are worth it; they are deciding whether you are the right one. Write for that reader and the whole tone changes.
Every consultant says they are experienced. The ones who get hired say what they were experienced at.
The point of the about page
Your site plan
Five pages, and the about page is doing the selling.
This is one of the few businesses where the person genuinely is the offer, which changes what the site has to be. Fewer claims, more specifics.

The logic of SEO
Referrals are checked online before anybody rings.
Website + SEO is optional monthly work on how easily local customers find you, aimed at three searches agreed with you. Most consulting work arrives by introduction, and the website's first job is converting those introductions rather than generating cold enquiries.
The kind of searches SEO works on
- business consultant Reading
- operations consultant Reading
- interim manager Reading
£349.99/month total, website included. SEO never promises a position, a number of enquiries or a revenue figure. It promises the work, every month.
Already have a website you are happy with? Ongoing SEO is only available with the managed website, as Website + SEO — PrimeStart does not run SEO on a site it does not host. If you would rather keep your current site, talk to us first and we will tell you honestly whether moving it across is worth it.
- 1
A website that says something specific
Against three consultants describing transformation and strategic alignment, the one naming an actual problem and an actual engagement shape wins the call. It is not a close contest.
- 2
Found by the people already looking
SEO is monthly work on the local searches, your Google Business Profile and the listings that decide who appears when somebody near you searches for the specific help they need.
- 3
Problem searches beat profession searches
"Business consultant" is crowded and vague. "Interim operations manager" or a named sector plus a named problem is searched by somebody with a live situation and a budget.
- 4
One engagement pays for years of this
A single three-month project is worth many times the annual cost of the website, which makes even a small number of enquiries a comfortable return.
We research your area first, recommend three that make commercial sense, explain why, and agree them with you before any work starts.
Your Client Platform
Add a new engagement type the week you offer it.
Every PrimeStart customer gets their own Client Platform. It is where the project lives: the stage it has reached, what we are waiting on, the draft to look through, and the button that says you are happy with it.
- Follow the build stage by stage, without emailing to ask
- Send documents straight from your phone
- Message PrimeStart directly, with the whole thread in one place
- Preview the draft on a laptop and a phone, and mark up changes
- Approve the website before anything goes live
- Ask for changes afterwards, and order services when you need them
- See your SEO report, tracked searches and recommendations each month (Website + SEO)
There is nothing technical to learn. One login to your Client Platform, and you never have to open WordPress.

The plans
The same consulting website, with or without the monthly SEO work.
The Website is the whole thing: designed, built, hosted, managed and kept current, with your domain name included. Website + SEO adds monthly work on how easily local customers find it. Clear pricing. Straightforward terms. No surprises.
A consulting website that names real problems, shapes the engagement and puts a real person behind it.
Designers usually charge for the build before the website exists. We absorb that cost and recover it through the monthly service, which is why the plan carries a minimum term, and why there is nothing to pay up front beyond the first month.
Complete the term and the website is yours: stay with us on a rolling basis with no new minimum, or move it to hosting of your own.

How it works
Your part is one evening.
Choose a plan, tell us what you fix and how you work, then tell us what to change on the draft. We do the rest.
- 1
Choose your plan
Website, or Website + SEO. The upfront website design fee is £0 and your first monthly payment is taken at signup.
- 2
Tell us what you fix
A short onboarding in your Client Platform: the problems you take on, your engagement shapes and fee ranges, your background, any case studies you have permission to use, and where enquiries should land.
- 3
Ready to Build
We check we have what we need. If a fee range or a case study permission needs a decision, we say exactly which, and get on with the rest.
- 4
First draft
A working draft on a laptop and a phone: the problems, the engagement shapes, and the about page.
- 5
Approve and launch
Reasonable in-scope changes, then you approve it. Nothing is published until you say so.
We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment alone doesn’t start the clock; missing details, revisions or domain delays can extend it.
You review the draft and request reasonable in-scope changes. If there’s a genuine problem we can’t put right within scope after reasonable attempts, we can cancel the agreement and refund Website subscription payments made, subject to any disclosed non-recoverable third-party costs.
