Web design for tattoo studios
People choose the artist, then find out where they work.
Nobody books a tattoo from a studio. They find an artist whose line work or shading or colour is exactly what they have been looking for, and the studio is simply the address that artist happens to be at. A website organised by artist rather than by studio matches how the decision is actually made, and it is why most tattoo websites underperform their own portfolios. We build it that way, host it and look after it, with a £0 upfront website design fee.
- Per month: £49.99
- Upfront website design fee: £0

The work
Healed work, not just fresh work.
Every studio shows tattoos photographed twenty minutes after the needle went down, when everything looks crisp. The studios worth trusting also show the same piece healed at six months, because that is what the customer will actually be wearing for the rest of their life.

Photographs here are illustrative. Your artists' own portfolios replace them, grouped by artist and by style.
The enquiry
A design brief, not "how much for a small tattoo?"
That question arrives forty times a week and cannot be answered, and answering it badly costs an artist half an evening. A form that asks for placement, rough size, style and reference images turns an unanswerable message into something an artist can price and schedule.
- Placement and size before anything
The same design on a wrist and on a thigh are different jobs at different prices. Asking first means the reply can be useful rather than a request for more information.
- Let them say they have no artist preference
Plenty of people love the studio's work without knowing which artist did which piece. Letting them say so lets you route the enquiry to whoever suits it.
- Ask whether it is their first
It changes the whole tone of the reply, and a studio that handles nervous first-timers well gets talked about.
- Say what the deposit does
Deposits are standard and universally misunderstood. Explaining that it secures the date and comes off the final price prevents most of the friction.
If your artists prefer to take enquiries through their own channels, the site can send people straight there instead.
The artists
Four artists, four portfolios, four sets of styles.
A studio page that blends everybody's work into one gallery does every artist a disservice and confuses the customer. Separate pages let somebody fall for a specific hand, which is how this decision is actually made.

- 01
A page per resident artist
Their own portfolio, the styles they take on, the work they would rather not do, and how to enquire with them specifically. This is the structure the whole site should be built around.
- 02
Styles named the way people search
Fine line, blackwork, neo-traditional, realism, Japanese, script, colour. These are the words typed into a search bar, and a studio that names them is findable in a way one that says "custom work" is not.
- 03
Cover-ups, honestly
One of the highest-intent searches in the trade and one that needs careful wording, because not everything can be covered and setting expectations early saves a difficult consultation.
- 04
Guest artists and residencies
Dates, who is visiting and how to book them. It creates genuine urgency without any of the fake countdown nonsense.
- 05
What the studio does not do
Saying plainly that you do not tattoo hands, faces, or under-eighteens, or that you decline certain designs, is a mark of a serious studio rather than a lost sale.
- 06
Aftercare, published properly
A clear aftercare page is read by every single client and shared constantly. It is also the page that reduces the touch-up work caused by people guessing.
Artist names, styles and availability are yours. We build the structure and you fill it, with a page each that your artists can be proud to send people to.
Registration and safety
Tattooing is regulated, and saying so is reassuring.
A first-time client is nervous about hygiene and half-aware there are rules without knowing what they are. A studio that states its registration, its age policy and its hygiene practice plainly reads as professional, and it is exactly what a parent checking on their nineteen-year-old is looking for.
We display exactly what you hold and nothing beyond it: no invented awards, no fabricated reviews, no claims about experience you cannot evidence.
Things we'll display if they apply to you
- Your local authority registration for the premises and the artists
- That you tattoo over-18s only, with photographic ID required
- Single-use needles and how equipment is sterilised
- Public liability insurance, with the level carried
- Artist qualifications, apprenticeships and blood-borne pathogen training
- Your consultation, patch test and consent process
- Your deposit, rescheduling and touch-up policy
- Reviews wherever they already live: Google, Facebook, Instagram
Tattooing premises and artists must be registered with the local authority in England and Wales, and arrangements differ elsewhere in the UK. Tattooing anybody under 18 is an offence. You tell us your registration details and policies during onboarding and we state exactly those.
Where clients come from
People travel for an artist, and only so far for a studio.
This is one of the few local trades where somebody will genuinely get on a train for the right hand. A distinctive artist draws clients from well beyond the city, which is why the artist pages matter more than the studio page and why style names are worth more than a location line. Somebody searching for a specific style has already accepted they may need to travel.
The local searches still do the heavy lifting for everything else: the first tattoo, the cover-up, the piece somebody wants finished before a holiday. Naming your city and the areas around it, alongside the styles your residents actually work in, catches both kinds of client without either getting in the other's way.

Your site plan
Five pages, and the artists get most of them.
Organise by artist and the site matches the decision. Organise by service and it reads like a nail bar.

The logic of SEO
Instagram shows the work. Google finds the studio.
Website + SEO is optional monthly work on how easily local customers find you, aimed at three searches agreed with you. Tattooing lives on social media, which is exactly why so many studios are invisible to somebody who has just decided to get tattooed and does not follow anybody yet.
The kind of searches SEO works on
- tattoo studio Bristol
- fine line tattoo Bristol
- cover up tattoo Bristol
£349.99/month total, website included. SEO never promises a position, a number of enquiries or a revenue figure. It promises the work, every month.
Already have a website you are happy with? Ongoing SEO is only available with the managed website, as Website + SEO — PrimeStart does not run SEO on a site it does not host. If you would rather keep your current site, talk to us first and we will tell you honestly whether moving it across is worth it.
- 1
A website that shows healed work
Fresh photographs are everywhere. Healed work, artist by artist, is what a careful customer is actually looking for and it is rarely shown.
- 2
Found by the people already looking
The SEO work is monthly work on the local searches, your Google Business Profile and the listings that decide who appears when somebody near you types tattoo studio near me.
- 3
Style searches bring the right clients
Somebody typing a specific style has already decided what they want and is choosing on skill. Those enquiries convert far better and argue about price far less.
- 4
A site that turns a scroll into a brief
Portfolio, artist, form with references attached. The whole point is that an enquiry arrives with enough in it to be answered properly.
We research your area first, recommend three that make commercial sense, explain why, and agree them with you before any work starts.
Your Client Platform
Add a guest artist's dates the week you book them.
Every PrimeStart customer gets their own Client Platform. It is where the project lives: the stage it has reached, what we are waiting on, the draft to look through, and the button that says you are happy with it.
- Follow the build stage by stage, without emailing to ask
- Send portfolio photographs straight from your phone
- Message PrimeStart directly, with the whole thread in one place
- Preview the draft on a laptop and a phone, and mark up changes
- Approve the website before anything goes live
- Ask for changes afterwards, and order services when you need them
- See your SEO report, tracked searches and recommendations each month (Website + SEO)
There is nothing technical to learn. One login to your Client Platform, and you never have to open WordPress.

The plans
The same studio website, with or without the monthly SEO work.
The Website is the whole thing: designed, built, hosted, managed and kept current, with your domain name included. Website + SEO adds monthly work on how easily local customers find it. Clear pricing. Straightforward terms. No surprises.
A tattoo studio website organised by artist, showing healed work, with an enquiry that arrives as a brief.
Designers usually charge for the build before the website exists. We absorb that cost and recover it through the monthly service, which is why the plan carries a minimum term, and why there is nothing to pay up front beyond the first month.
Complete the term and the website is yours: stay with us on a rolling basis with no new minimum, or move it to hosting of your own.

How it works
Your part takes less time than one sitting.
Choose a plan, send us your artists and their portfolios, then tell us what to change on the draft. We do the rest.
- 1
Choose your plan
Website, or Website + SEO. The upfront website design fee is £0 and your first monthly payment is taken at signup.
- 2
Send us the artists
A short onboarding in your Client Platform: your artists and their styles, portfolio photographs, your registration and policies, your hours, and where enquiries should land.
- 3
Ready to Build
We check we have what we need. If an artist's portfolio or a policy needs a decision, we say exactly which, and get on with the rest.
- 4
First draft
A working draft on a phone and a laptop: the artist pages, the portfolio, and the design brief form.
- 5
Approve and launch
Reasonable in-scope changes, then you approve it. Nothing is published until you say so.
We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment alone doesn’t start the clock; missing details, revisions or domain delays can extend it.
You review the draft and request reasonable in-scope changes. If there’s a genuine problem we can’t put right within scope after reasonable attempts, we can cancel the agreement and refund Website subscription payments made, subject to any disclosed non-recoverable third-party costs.
