Web design for damp proofing companies

The firm that names the cause gets the survey.

Damp is searched for by people who are already worried. A survey has flagged it before completion, a lender wants something in writing, or a corner has gone black behind a wardrobe. They have also read that some firms sell a damp-proof course for what turns out to be a blocked gutter, so a damp proofing website earns the call by explaining the difference first. We design it, build it, host it and look after it.

  • Per month: £49.99
  • Upfront website design fee: £0

Read at eleven at night

Six things a worried homeowner checks before they ring anybody.

Damp gets searched for after a wardrobe has been pulled away from a wall, or the morning a survey report lands. Nobody is comparing brands. They are working out which of the three firms on the screen will tell them the truth.

  1. 01

"Is this rising damp, or is it something else?"

Four problems with four different fixes, set out with the signs of each, so somebody recognises their own wall before they pick up the phone. Explaining it is the sale.

  2. 02

"Will they sell me a damp course I don't need?"

One sentence, high on the home page: the survey comes first, and if the cause is an overflowing gutter or a raised flower bed, that is what the report will say. That sentence outperforms any badge.

  3. 03

"What happens at a survey, and is there a fee?"

How long you are in the house, what gets checked, whether you charge, and when the written report arrives. Stated, not hinted at.

  4. 04

"Can they write the report my solicitor is asking for?"

Buyers, sellers and lenders want something in writing before a completion date. The site says whether you produce it and how quickly. The most time-sensitive enquiry you take.

  5. 05

"What are these people actually qualified in?"

Whatever you hold sits beside the survey button: memberships, surveying qualifications, insurance. Nothing you do not hold appears anywhere. Your credentials only.

  6. 06

"Do they even come out to my postcode?"

The towns you cover, in the first screen, so nobody two counties away fills in a form you will have to turn down. Your patch, made obvious.

The four things a survey separates

Problems that look alike on a wall and are nothing alike underneath.

Most people arrive having been told three different things by a mortgage surveyor, a neighbour and a forum thread. Your site sets out what each type of damp is and what a survey checks for, so the doorstep conversation starts from understanding instead of fear.

Dark tide mark of rising damp spreading across the base of a white plastered wall
  1. 01

    Rising damp

Ground moisture drawn up through the wall where a damp-proof course is missing, has failed or has been bridged. Tide marks, salting and blown plaster, usually to about a metre. The page explains what a damp-proof course does, and why a raised patio or a heaped border is so often part of it.

  2. 02

    Penetrating damp

Water arriving from outside: a blocked gutter, cracked render, failed pointing, a tired flat roof, a slipped tile. It follows the weather and dries back between spells of rain. Sometimes the answer is a roofer rather than you, and the page says so.

  3. 03

    Condensation and mould

Warm, moist air meeting cold surfaces. Black spotting in corners, on window reveals and behind furniture, worst between November and March. Ventilation, heating and extraction explained without lecturing a household about drying washing indoors.

  4. 04

    Timber decay

Wet rot, dry rot and wood-boring beetle in joist ends, skirtings and roof timbers. What each looks like, why a moisture problem is almost always underneath it, and what treatment or replacement involves.

  5. 05

    Below ground

Cellars and basements are waterproofing rather than damp proofing: cavity drain membrane, sump and pump, or a tanking system. A different subject, priced differently, and given its own section if it is a real part of your week.

Written to your practice and read by you before publication. The site talks about damp in general terms: it never diagnoses a property and never reads a wall from a photograph.

Diagnosis before treatment

The cause decides the job. Everything before it is guesswork.

The reason this trade has a reputation to live down is not workmanship. It is the firms that arrive with the answer already written: an injected damp-proof course and a replaster, whatever the meter says. The person in the hallway has half expected it since the moment they searched, so a website that leads with treatment confirms their fear.

This one leads with the survey instead: what you check, in what order, and the four things you are separating before anything is recommended. It says plainly that a wall soaked by an overflowing gutter does not need a chemical injection, and that a bedroom corner going black in January is usually a ventilation problem.

It also sets up the honest version of the sale: when the report does recommend work, the reader has already followed the reasoning, so the price arrives attached to a cause rather than a fear.

A survey that rules three things out is worth more than one that rules one thing in.

Proof, where the doubt is

Credentials belong beside the survey button, not in the footer.

Somebody choosing between three damp firms is hunting for a reason to trust one of them. Everything you can prove goes next to the point where they decide, on every page.

We never write in a membership, a surveying qualification, an insurance-backed guarantee or a review that you have not given us. If you hold it, we show it, worded the way you word it.

What we display if you hold it

  • Property Care Association membership
  • CSRT and CSSW qualified surveyors
  • TrustMark registration
  • An insurance-backed guarantee, with the scheme named and the term written in your words
  • Public liability and professional indemnity insurance
  • Approved-installer status for the systems you fit
  • Reviews on Google, Checkatrade or Which? Trusted Trader

Scheme names show where they would sit. You tell us what you hold at onboarding and the site shows exactly that.

How it works

You are under a suspended floor most days. Your part takes an evening.

Choose a plan, tell us how you survey and what you take on, then read the draft. We write the damp pages and you check every line is true to your practice.

See the full process, start to finish

  1. 1

    Choose your plan

Pick Website or Website + SEO. Your first monthly payment is taken at signup.

  2. 2

    Tell us about the business

A short onboarding in your Client Platform: services, areas, anything you want highlighted, your logo, any photos and the number you want calls to go to.

  3. 3

    Ready to Build

We check we have what we need. If something's missing we'll say exactly what, and work with what you have where we can.

  4. 4

    First draft

You see a working draft of your site, on desktop and phone, and tell us what to change.

  5. 5

    Approve and launch

Reasonable in-scope revisions, then you approve it. Nothing goes live until you say so.

Timing, stated properly

We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment alone doesn’t start the clock; missing details, revisions or domain delays can extend it.

Before you approve

You review the draft and request reasonable in-scope changes. If there’s a genuine problem we can’t put right within scope after reasonable attempts, we can cancel the agreement and refund Website subscription payments made, subject to any disclosed non-recoverable third-party costs.

The plan

Five pages, in the order a frightened reader needs them.

The survey is the decision they are making, so the site is built around it. Then the four causes, what treatment involves, and one short way to ask you to come and look.

01

Home

The survey comes first, and treatment only where the survey finds a cause for it. The four types of damp in a line each, the towns you cover, and a button that stays within reach.

  • Survey first
  • Towns covered
  • Book a survey

Generally up to five pages on Website, planned around how your customers choose.

Need something extra later? No problem. PrimeStart customers can order additional services such as extra pages, branding and one-off optimisation through their client dashboard whenever they need them.

The logic of SEO

The searches that decide who gets asked to survey.

Website + SEO is optional monthly work on how easily local customers find you, aimed at three searches agreed with you. For a damp firm those usually split between the phrase everybody types, the survey phrase a house sale puts into somebody's hand, and the one problem you would rather have more of.

The kind of searches SEO works on

  1. damp proofing Portsmouth
  2. damp survey Portsmouth
  3. basement waterproofing Portsmouth

£349.99/month total, website included. SEO never promises a position, a number of enquiries or a revenue figure. It promises the work, every month.

Already have a website you are happy with? Ongoing SEO is only available with the managed website, as Website + SEO — PrimeStart does not run SEO on a site it does not host. If you would rather keep your current site, talk to us first and we will tell you honestly whether moving it across is worth it.

  1. 1

A site that reads like a specialist

Three damp firms get compared on a phone in about four minutes. The one whose site explains the difference between the causes tends to get the call.

  2. 2

Found while the report is still on the table

SEO is monthly work on the local searches, your Google Business Profile and the listings that decide who appears when somebody near you types damp survey.

  3. 3

More of the work you actually want

Visibility for condensation brings ventilation work. Visibility for below-ground waterproofing brings tanking. Choosing the three searches is really choosing which sort of week arrives.

  4. 4

A page built to turn worry into a visit

The explanation first, the credentials beside it, and a form that asks for a postcode, a photograph and when they are in. Attention is no use if the enquiry arrives without an address.

Your Client Platform

One place to watch it being built, and to say what to change.

Every PrimeStart customer gets their own Client Platform. It is where the project lives: the stage it has reached, the draft to read through, and the button that says you are happy for it to go live.

  • Follow the build stage by stage, without emailing to ask
  • Send photographs of a treated wall or a dry cellar from your phone
  • Message PrimeStart directly, with the whole thread in one place
  • Read the draft on a laptop and a phone, and mark up what to change
  • Approve the website before anything is published
  • Ask for changes later: a new town, a survey fee, a system you now fit
  • See your SEO report, tracked searches and recommendations each month (Website + SEO)

There is nothing technical to learn. One login to your Client Platform, and you never have to open WordPress.

The price

The full cost, stated once, with the term in the open.

Both plans are the same managed website. The difference is whether PrimeStart is also working every month on how local customers find it. Clear pricing. Straightforward terms. No surprises.

A damp and timber specialist's website: the causes explained, your credentials beside every survey button, and a request form that works from a phone in a hallway.

Designers usually charge for the build before the website exists. We absorb that cost and recover it through the monthly service, which is why the plan carries a minimum term, and why there is nothing to pay up front beyond the first month.

Complete the term and the website is yours: stay with us on a rolling basis with no new minimum, or move it to hosting of your own.

Want PrimeStart working on how customers find you? Website + SEO is £349.99 a month in total, with the same website included. The same website, plus monthly work on how the people already searching for a damp survey near them actually reach it. How SEO works

Questions damp and timber specialists ask us

How much does a website for a damp proofing company cost?
£49.99 a month, with a £0 upfront website design fee and your first £49.99 taken at signup. That covers a professionally designed WordPress website built around how damp work is chosen, generally up to five pages, managed hosting, your domain name, an SSL certificate, security kept current, regular backups, WordPress and plugin updates, survey request forms, basic Google foundations, reasonable small changes subject to fair use, support, and your own Client Platform. The Website has an 18-month minimum term, so 18 × £49.99 is £899.82 in total.
Can the site explain the types of damp without saying something we can't stand behind?
That is exactly how it is written. Rising damp, penetrating damp, condensation and timber decay each get the signs, the usual causes and what a survey checks for, in your words. The site never diagnoses a particular property and never puts a figure on work you have not seen.
Can people request a survey through the site?
Yes, as a request rather than a booking. A short form asks for the address, what they have noticed, a photograph or two and when they are usually in, and it arrives in your inbox with the postcode attached. PrimeStart websites do not include a booking engine, but the button can link to a diary you already use.
We charge for surveys. Can the site say so?
Yes, and we would encourage it. Stating the fee, what it covers and that the written report is theirs to keep separates you from firms whose free survey is really a sales visit. If your survey is free we say that plainly instead.
Can you show our memberships, qualifications and guarantee?
If you hold them, yes, and they sit beside every survey button rather than in the footer: trade body membership, surveying qualifications, insurance, approved-installer status, an insurance-backed guarantee with the scheme named and the term worded the way you word it, and your own reviews. We never write in a credential you have not given us.
Is the domain name included, and who owns the website after 18 months?
The domain name is included in the plan, registered and managed for you alongside the hosting and the SSL certificate. Once the 18-month minimum term is complete and the payments due under it have been made, the website is yours: stay with PrimeStart at £49.99 a month rolling, with no new minimum term beginning, or move it elsewhere and arrange your own hosting. Transfer is subject to the relevant third-party licences, and the terms set that out properly.
How quickly will I see a first draft?
We aim to have your first draft ready within 5 working days of your project being Ready to Build, which is the point at which PrimeStart has everything it needs and confirms it. Payment and onboarding alone do not start that clock. Nothing is published until you have approved the draft.
What is SEO, and do I need it to start?
SEO is optional ongoing work on how easily local customers find you, built around three priority searches agreed with you. It is £349.99 a month in total with the Website included, not charged on top, and it has a 6-month minimum; months of it count towards the 18-month Website term as well. Most damp firms start on the Website and take SEO later. Nobody honest can promise a position on Google or a number of enquiries, and we do not.
