Web design for plasterers and renderers

Plastering and rendering are two sales, not one.

A cracked ceiling, or a wall left rough after the electrician, is a this-week decision: someone wants a price, a date and a plasterer who sheets up properly. A render is months of thinking about it first, then scaffold, a system, a colour and a dry spell to do it in. Your website has to answer both without either getting in the other's way. We design it, build it, host it and keep it working.

  • Per month: £49.99
  • Upfront website design fee: £0

The only way to show flat

Plastering only makes sense photographed twice.

A finished wall looks like nothing at all, which is the point and also the problem. One photograph of a flat wall sells nothing; the same wall before and after sells the job on its own. Your work page is built for pairs: same spot, same angle, a line saying what was done and where. Take the second photograph once it has dried and been painted, not the hour you pulled the sheets up.

A pebbledashed front hacked off, beaded and base-coated, then the top coat floated on in a dry week. The photograph that wins the next render is the third one, taken from the pavement with the scaffold down.

Photographs here are illustrative. On your site every pair is your own work, captioned in your words, and new pairs go up as you send them through your Client Platform.

What you actually get called out for

Every finish named the way a customer asks for it.

Nobody rings up asking for a float and set. They ring about a ceiling that has cracked, a wall the plumber has been through, or a house that looks tired from the pavement. Each job gets one line saying what it is and when it is the right answer, so enquiries arrive already understanding what they are buying. The tag on the right says inside work or outside work; on your site the two live on separate pages.

  1. 01

    Re-skim over existing plaster

One coat over walls that have been papered, patched and papered again. The most common call a plasterer takes, and people search for it by the room: lounge, hallway, whole upstairs.

    Inside
  2. 02

Float and set on bare walls

Two coats on brick or block after a strip-out, a new opening or a damp course. Far longer to dry than a skim, and the page says so rather than letting anyone book the decorator too early.

    Inside
  3. 03

Boarding, dot and dab and dry lining

Boarding out extensions, garages and conversions, with insulated board where the wall needs it. Straight walls are decided here, not at the finish.

    Inside
  4. 04

    Ceilings, including Artex

Overboarding and re-skimming tired ceilings. Anything textured from before 2000 is tested before it is touched, which is worth stating on the page instead of on every visit.

    Inside
  5. 05

    Patching and making good

After the sparks, the plumber or the leak. Small work that pays for itself the moment it becomes the rest of the room.

    Inside
  6. 06

    Monocouche render

One-coat, through-coloured systems in the colours you actually fit. Homeowners choose on colour first, so the page shows the colours rather than listing product names.

    Outside
  7. 07

    Silicone thin-coat render

A flexible, low-maintenance finish over a base coat or insulation boards. Usually the system a customer has read about before they ring you.

    Outside
  8. 08

    Sand and cement render

Traditional scratch and top coat for repairs, garden walls, plinths and matching what is already on the house.

    Outside
  9. 09

    Pebbledash and roughcast repairs

Patching, matching and re-dashing where a whole elevation does not need coming off. Worth its own paragraph: most people assume the only option is a full re-render.

    Outside
  10. 10

    Lime plaster and lime render

For solid-walled and listed buildings that have to breathe. Shown only if you work with lime, because the enquiries it brings are specific.

    Outside
  11. 11

    Whole-house plastering on site

Priced by the metre and sequenced with the other trades. A short trade section says how you work, what notice you need and how you invoice.

    For builders
  12. 12

Render on new build and extensions

Beading, base coat and finish on fresh blockwork, with the site contact route set out where a contracts manager will look for it.

    For builders

Nothing is listed that you do not offer. Coving, cornice, external wall insulation, lime: you tell us at onboarding and the site says exactly that. If you never touch external work, the rendering page simply does not exist.

Where you work

A patch is a local job. A render is worth the drive.

Travel decides what is worth pricing. Half an hour each way for one ceiling is a morning gone; a fortnight of scaffold and render is not. Your site names the towns you cover and where you will go further, so the calls that come in are ones you would say yes to anyway.

  • Towns, not a radius

People type the name of the town they live in. Naming Sudbury and Newmarket does more for you, and reads better at nine at night, than "within 20 miles".

  • Different reach for different work

Small skims close to home, render and whole-house work further out. Saying which is which saves you the call where you have to turn someone down.

  • Changed when your patch changes

Take on a second man and widen the area, or pull it in over winter. Message us and it is done as a small change under fair use.

Proof, where people look for it

Plastering has few badges. Show the ones you hold.

There is no Gas Safe for plasterers, so a homeowner judges you on the work, the reviews and whatever you can prove. Everything you hold goes where people look for it: the about page, and beside the enquiry form on both service pages.

We never write in a qualification, a registration, a review or a length of time in the trade that you have not given us. If you hold it, we display it. If you do not, the site says nothing about it.

What we display if you hold it

  • Public liability insurance
  • NVQ or City & Guilds plastering qualifications
  • A CSCS card for site work
  • Approved applicator status for a render system such as K Rend, Weber or Parex
  • TrustMark registration
  • Federation of Plastering and Drywall Contractors membership
  • Reviews on Google, Checkatrade or Which? Trusted Trader

Scheme names are used for illustration. You tell us what you hold at onboarding and the site shows exactly that.

The plan

Five pages, split down the middle of the trade.

The plan writes itself once you accept that inside work and outside work are bought by different people. Two service pages, each with its own photographs, words and enquiry route, so nobody reading about monocouche ends up halfway through a paragraph on coving.

Your Client Platform

One place to see where your website is up to.

Every PrimeStart customer gets a Client Platform. It is where you follow the build, send photographs straight from your phone, say what to change and approve the site before anyone else sees it.

  • Follow the build stage by stage, from onboarding to launch
  • Send photographs of a finished wall or elevation straight from your phone
  • Message PrimeStart without digging back through emails
  • See the draft on a laptop and on a phone, and say what to change
  • Approve the website before anything goes live
  • Ask for changes later: a new town, a render system you have started fitting, new pairs
  • See your SEO report, tracked searches and recommendations each month (Website + SEO)

Nothing technical to learn. You will never need WordPress admin access, and never be asked to keep anything updated.

More about the Client Platform

Illustration of the Client Platform for a fictional plasterers & renderers business. SEO reporting is included with Website + SEO.

Website + SEO

When you want more render work, we work on the searches that bring it.

Website + SEO is optional monthly work on how easily local customers find you, built around three priority searches agreed with you. Most plasterers pick one for the everyday inside work that keeps the diary ticking, and one or two for the outside work they would rather be doing.

  • £349.99/monthTotal. The website is included: the £49.99 Website is not added on top.
  • 3 searchesAgreed with you at the start. Additional agreed search targets are £50/month each.
  • Monthly workSearch and competitor research, website improvements, Google Business Profile work, local listings, technical monitoring and a clear monthly report in your Client Platform.
  • 6-month minimumAfter the SEO minimum you can continue, or stop the SEO work and keep the Website for the rest of its 18-month term. Every month of it counts towards both.
What we don’t promise

A position on Google, a number of enquiries or a number of jobs. Nobody honest can promise those. What SEO does is make it easier for suitable local customers to find you, month after month, with the work reported to you.

  1. plasterer near me
  2. house rendering near me
  3. artex ceiling removal near me

Examples only. Your three searches are agreed around the work you want more of and what people in your area actually type.

Already have a website you are happy with? Ongoing SEO is only available with the managed website, as Website + SEO — PrimeStart does not run SEO on a site it does not host. If you would rather keep your current site, talk to us first and we will tell you honestly whether moving it across is worth it.

The plans

Start with the website. Add SEO when the render diary needs filling.

Both plans are the same managed website. The difference is whether PrimeStart is also working every month on how local customers find it. Clear pricing. Straightforward terms. No surprises.

A plasterer and renderer's website: the work shown in pairs, the two halves of the trade kept apart, your towns stated, and a price request that works from a phone.

Designers usually charge for the build before the website exists. We absorb that cost and recover it through the monthly service, which is why the plan carries a minimum term, and why there is nothing to pay up front beyond the first month.

Complete the term and the website is yours: stay with us on a rolling basis with no new minimum, or move it to hosting of your own.

Want PrimeStart working on how customers find you? Website + SEO is £349.99 a month in total, with the same website included. The same website, plus monthly work on how the people already searching for plastering and rendering near them actually reach it. How SEO works

Both plans include the same managed website, your domain name and the hosting.

How it works

Your part fits between the mixes.

Choose a plan, tell us about the business and send the photographs already on your phone. We write the words, build the pages and show you a draft before any of it is public.

See the full process, start to finish

  1. 1

    Choose your plan

Pick Website or Website + SEO. Your first monthly payment is taken at signup.

  2. 2

    Tell us about the business

A short onboarding in your Client Platform: services, areas, anything you want highlighted, your logo, any photos and the number you want calls to go to.

  3. 3

    Ready to Build

We check we have what we need. If something's missing we'll say exactly what, and work with what you have where we can.

  4. 4

    First draft

You see a working draft of your site, on desktop and phone, and tell us what to change.

  5. 5

    Approve and launch

Reasonable in-scope revisions, then you approve it. Nothing goes live until you say so.

Timing, stated properly

We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment alone doesn’t start the clock; missing details, revisions or domain delays can extend it.

Before you approve

You review the draft and request reasonable in-scope changes. If there’s a genuine problem we can’t put right within scope after reasonable attempts, we can cancel the agreement and refund Website subscription payments made, subject to any disclosed non-recoverable third-party costs.

Questions plasterers and renderers ask us

How much does a website for a plasterer cost?
£49.99 a month, with a £0 upfront website design fee and your first £49.99 taken at signup. That covers a professionally designed WordPress website built around your work, generally up to five pages, managed hosting, your domain name, an SSL certificate, security kept current, regular backups, WordPress and plugin updates, enquiry forms, basic Google foundations, reasonable small changes subject to fair use, support, and your own Client Platform. The Website has an 18-month minimum term, so 18 × £49.99 is £899.82 in total.
Can plastering and rendering have their own pages?
Yes, and they should. The two are searched for differently, priced differently and bought by different people. Plastering gets a page for the inside work, the preparation and the drying. Rendering gets a page for the systems, the colours and the weather. Google reads them as two subjects rather than one muddled page, and neither customer has to wade through the other's.
Can the site be honest about drying and weather without costing me work?
It usually wins you the work. A wall that has been floated and set needs days rather than hours before it will take a mist coat, and how many depends on the thickness, the background and the time of year. Render should not go on in frost, driving rain or full sun on a hot elevation. Putting both on the page sets the expectation before you arrive and stops the phone call about a patch that is still darker than the wall around it.
Can customers send a photograph of the ceiling with their enquiry?
Yes. The form asks for the room or the elevation, a rough size and a photograph, so you can price much of the small work without driving out to look first. It reaches your inbox with their postcode and what they want doing. If you would rather people rang, your number stays one tap away on every screen.
Do I have to write anything, and do I see it before it goes live?
You tell us at onboarding which finishes you offer, the towns you cover and what you want leading the site. We write the pages in everyday language, using the words your customers search for. You review the draft in your Client Platform on a laptop and a phone, ask for changes, and nothing is published until you approve it. You will never need WordPress admin access.
What happens at the end of the 18 months?
The website is yours. Once the minimum term is complete and the payments due under it have been made, you can stay with PrimeStart at £49.99 a month rolling, with no new minimum term beginning, or take the website elsewhere and arrange your own hosting. Transfer is subject to the relevant third-party licences, and the terms set that out properly.
How quickly will I see a first draft?
We aim to have your first draft ready within 5 working days of your project being Ready to Build, which is the point where PrimeStart has everything it needs and confirms it. Payment and onboarding alone do not start that clock. Missing photographs or a slow domain transfer can extend it, and we will tell you if that happens.
What is SEO, and do I need it to start?
SEO is optional ongoing work on how easily local customers find you, built around three priority searches agreed with you. It is £349.99 a month in total with the Website included, not charged on top, and it has a 6-month minimum; months on it count towards the 18-month Website term as well. Most plasterers start on the Website and take the SEO work on later, often when they want the outside work to make up more of the year. Nobody can promise a position or a number of enquiries, and we do not.
