Web design for dental practices

Half your new patients are frightened. Half want a price.

Somebody who has avoided a dentist for six years is looking for a practice that will not make them feel judged. Somebody comparing implant or aligner costs wants a figure without booking a consultation to get one. Both leave immediately if the website answers neither, and most dental websites answer neither. We build it around both, host it and look after it, with a £0 upfront website design fee.

  • Per month: £49.99
  • Upfront website design fee: £0

Nervous patients

The page that brings in the patients nobody else reaches.

Dental anxiety is extremely common and almost never addressed properly. A page written for somebody who has been putting it off for years, in ordinary language and without any jokes about drills, is often the highest-converting page on a practice website.

  • Say that you will not lecture them

The thing people dread most is being told off for leaving it. Saying explicitly that nobody will do that removes the single biggest barrier there is.

  • Explain what a first visit involves

A look, a conversation and a plan — not treatment on the day unless they want it. Knowing they can leave without anything being done is what gets people through the door.

  • Offer a conversation without a chair

Some practices will talk to an anxious patient in a consulting room before any examination. If you do, that is worth a paragraph of its own.

  • Describe what you can offer to help

Longer appointments, breaks agreed in advance, a signal to stop, numbing gel before injections, and whether sedation is available. Practical, factual and enormously reassuring.

  • Let them tell you beforehand

A line on the booking form saying "I am nervous about this" means the practice knows before they arrive, and the patient does not have to say it at reception.

On wording

We write this factually and warmly, without claiming outcomes. Where sedation or referral is involved, the wording stays within what you and your clinicians are comfortable stating.

Treatments

Treatments explained so a patient can choose between them.

A patient told they need a crown or an implant has no way to judge the recommendation. Explaining what each is, what it involves and roughly what it costs turns an anxious decision into an informed one, and it is what separates a practice from a price list.

  1. 01

    Check-ups and hygiene

What an examination covers, how often you recommend one and why, and what a hygienist appointment involves. The routine work most of your patients come for.

  2. 02

Fillings, crowns and root canal treatment

What each is for, how many visits it takes and what the alternatives are. Written so somebody can follow the reasoning rather than just the price.

  3. 03

    Implants

The stages, the timescale, what the assessment involves and the fact that suitability is decided clinically. High-value work where careful, non-promotional writing does far better than sales language.

  4. 04

    Teeth straightening

The options you offer, roughly how long treatment takes and what retention afterwards involves. Retention is the part patients are never told and most resent discovering later.

  5. 05

    Whitening

Legally, tooth whitening is a dental procedure and there are rules about who may carry it out. Saying so plainly positions you correctly against the beauty salons offering it.

  6. 06

    Emergencies

What counts as one, how quickly you can usually see someone, and what to do out of hours. One of the highest-intent searches in the whole sector.

Every treatment description is written factually and reviewed by you before publication. We do not claim outcomes, compare you favourably to named competitors, or use before-and-after imagery without your confirmation that consent and the relevant advertising rules are satisfied.

Regulation

Dentistry is regulated, and the website has to reflect that.

This is one of the few sectors where getting the website wrong can create a professional problem rather than just a commercial one. Registration details, fee transparency and complaints information are expected, and the advertising rules around certain treatments are strict.

We display exactly what you hold and nothing beyond it. We never invent registrations, imply specialist status that is not held, or publish patient information or imagery without your confirmation that consent exists.

Things we'll display if they apply to you

  • Your practice's regulator registration, and your clinicians' registration numbers
  • Specialist listings, where a clinician is genuinely on a specialist list
  • Your full fee list, in the way your regulator expects it to be displayed
  • Whether you take NHS patients, private, or both, and whether you have capacity
  • Your complaints procedure and who to contact
  • Indemnity arrangements, decontamination and infection control
  • Reviews wherever they already live, handled within the rules that apply to your profession

Dental practices in the UK are regulated, and requirements differ across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Advertising of prescription-only medicines to the public is prohibited, which affects how certain treatments may be described. We build the site to carry whatever your regulator and your indemnity provider require, and you approve every word before it is published.

Booking

"Are you taking new patients?" asked forty times a week.

It is the most common phone call any practice receives and the easiest one to remove. Saying plainly on the home page whether you have capacity, and for which kind of patient, saves your reception hours and stops people ringing three practices to find out.

  • Answer the capacity question up front

"We are currently accepting new private patients" belongs on the home page, not three clicks down. It is the single most useful sentence a practice can publish.

  • Let people say they are anxious

One optional box on the form, and the practice knows before the patient arrives. It costs nothing and it changes the whole experience.

  • Separate emergencies clearly

Somebody in pain should not be filling in the same form as somebody booking a check-up in six weeks. A distinct route, with your emergency policy stated.

Where patients come from

Nearly every new patient search starts with a place and a question.

"Dentist near me taking new patients" is close to the whole game, followed by emergency searches and by people pricing a specific treatment. What almost nobody searches for is a practice by name, unless they have been recommended, and in that case they are checking you rather than discovering you. Both audiences want the same things quickly: are you open to me, where are you, and what does it cost.

Because dental practices draw from a genuinely local area, naming the parts of the city and the villages you serve is worth far more than a county. It also helps the people who have moved and need to register somewhere new, who are one of the largest and most reliable sources of new patients any practice has.

Your site plan

Five pages, and the fees page is not optional.

Fee transparency is expected of dental practices and it is also good business. A clear, complete list answers the question that otherwise generates a phone call for every enquiry.

The logic of SEO

A registered patient is a twenty-year relationship.

Website + SEO is optional monthly work on how easily local customers find you, aimed at three searches agreed with you. Dental economics are unusual: one family registering is worth thousands over time, which makes even a small number of new registrations valuable.

The kind of searches SEO works on

  1. dentist Cambridge
  2. emergency dentist Cambridge
  3. dental implants Cambridge

£349.99/month total, website included. SEO never promises a position, a number of enquiries or a revenue figure. It promises the work, every month.

Already have a website you are happy with? Ongoing SEO is only available with the managed website, as Website + SEO — PrimeStart does not run SEO on a site it does not host. If you would rather keep your current site, talk to us first and we will tell you honestly whether moving it across is worth it.

  1. 1

A website that answers the capacity question

Somebody ringing round three practices will register with whichever one told them online that it had space. That sentence alone outperforms most dental marketing.

  2. 2

Found by the people already looking

SEO is monthly work on the local searches, your Google Business Profile and the listings that decide who appears when somebody near you types dentist near me.

  3. 3

    Different searches, different value

Registration searches bring long-term patients. Treatment searches bring high-value single cases. Emergency searches bring people in pain who often stay. Choosing the three shapes the practice.

  4. 4

A site that removes the phone call

Capacity, fees, first-visit information and a request form. Every one of those takes work off reception as well as bringing patients in.

We research your area first, recommend three that make commercial sense, explain why, and agree them with you before any work starts.

Your Client Platform

Update your fee list the day it changes.

Every PrimeStart customer gets their own Client Platform. It is where the project lives: the stage it has reached, what we are waiting on, the draft to look through, and the button that says you are happy with it.

  • Follow the build stage by stage, without emailing to ask
  • Send documents and photographs straight from your phone
  • Message PrimeStart directly, with the whole thread in one place
  • Preview the draft on a laptop and a phone, and mark up changes
  • Approve the website before anything goes live
  • Ask for changes afterwards, and order services when you need them
  • See your SEO report, tracked searches and recommendations each month (Website + SEO)

There is nothing technical to learn. One login to your Client Platform, and you never have to open WordPress.

The plans

The same dental website, with or without the monthly SEO work.

The Website is the whole thing: designed, built, hosted, managed and kept current, with your domain name included. Website + SEO adds monthly work on how easily local customers find it. Clear pricing. Straightforward terms. No surprises.

A dental website that answers capacity, fees and anxiety before anybody has to ring reception.

Designers usually charge for the build before the website exists. We absorb that cost and recover it through the monthly service, which is why the plan carries a minimum term, and why there is nothing to pay up front beyond the first month.

Complete the term and the website is yours: stay with us on a rolling basis with no new minimum, or move it to hosting of your own.

Want PrimeStart working on how customers find you? Website + SEO is £349.99 a month in total, with the same website included. The same managed website, plus monthly work on three agreed local searches, where one registration can be a twenty-year relationship. How SEO works

How it works

Your part is one meeting and a fee list.

Choose a plan, send us your fees and your registrations, then tell us what to change on the draft. We do the rest.

See the full process, start to finish

  1. 1

    Choose your plan

Website, or Website + SEO. The upfront website design fee is £0 and your first monthly payment is taken at signup.

  2. 2

    Send us the practice details

A short onboarding in your Client Platform: your fee list, your clinicians and their registrations, your treatments, your policies, your hours, and where enquiries should land.

  3. 3

    Ready to Build

We check we have what we need. If a fee or a piece of regulatory wording needs a decision, we say exactly which, and get on with the rest.

  4. 4

    First draft

A working draft on a laptop and a phone, for you and your indemnity provider to review before anything is published.

  5. 5

    Approve and launch

Reasonable in-scope changes, then you approve it. Nothing is published until you say so.

Timing, stated properly

We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment alone doesn’t start the clock; missing details, revisions or domain delays can extend it.

Before you approve

You review the draft and request reasonable in-scope changes. If there’s a genuine problem we can’t put right within scope after reasonable attempts, we can cancel the agreement and refund Website subscription payments made, subject to any disclosed non-recoverable third-party costs.

Questions dental practices ask us

How much does a website for a dental practice cost?
£49.99 a month. The upfront website design fee is £0 and your first £49.99 payment is taken at signup. The Website runs on an 18-month minimum term: 18 monthly payments of £49.99, or £899.82 in total. That covers the design and build, managed hosting, your domain name, SSL, security, backups, WordPress and plugin updates, enquiry forms, basic Google foundations, reasonable small changes subject to fair use, and your Client Platform.
What happens at the end of the 18 months?
The website is yours. Once the minimum term is complete and the payments due under it have been made, you can stay with PrimeStart at £49.99 a month on a rolling basis with no new minimum term, or move the website elsewhere and arrange your own hosting. Transfer is subject to the relevant third-party licences, which we explain at the time.
Is the domain name included?
Yes. Your domain name is included in the Website and managed by PrimeStart alongside the hosting and the SSL certificate. If you already own one, we work with the domain you have.
Will the site meet our regulator's requirements?
We build it to carry everything you tell us it needs to carry: registration details, fee information, complaints procedure and any wording your indemnity provider requires. What we do not do is advise you on compliance. You and your clinicians approve every word before publication, and we make changes as guidance changes.
Can we advertise treatments like facial aesthetics?
Advertising prescription-only medicines to the public is prohibited in the UK, which constrains how some treatments can be described. In practice that usually means describing a consultation and an assessment rather than naming or promoting a product. We follow whatever wording you and your indemnity provider are comfortable with, and we will flag it rather than write something that puts you at risk.
Can we use before and after photographs?
Only with documented patient consent, and subject to the advertising rules that apply to your profession. We will ask you to confirm consent exists for every image, and we would generally advise using them sparingly and without any claim about typical results.
How quickly will I see a first draft?
We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment and onboarding alone do not start that period. Nothing is published until you have reviewed and approved it, and practices often take longer at that stage because of internal review, which is entirely fine.
What is SEO, and do I need it to start?
SEO is optional ongoing work on your visibility for three agreed local searches, at £349.99 a month in total with the Website included: the £49.99 is not charged on top. The SEO work has a 6-month minimum, and every month of it also counts towards the 18-month Website term. It suits dentistry because a registered patient is a long relationship. Nobody can promise a position on Google or a number of patients, and we do not.
