Web design for private clinics

Private patients are buying certainty, not convenience.

Somebody paying for private care has usually waited, worried, and read too much online. What they want from your website is not persuasion: it is evidence. Who the clinician is, what they are registered to do, what the appointment involves, what it costs and when they could be seen. A clinic that answers all five plainly wins against one with better photographs and vaguer answers. We build it that way, host it and look after it, with a £0 upfront website design fee.

  • Per month: £49.99
  • Upfront website design fee: £0

Regulation

Regulatory status belongs near the top, not in the footer.

A private patient is spending significant money outside the NHS and is quietly anxious about whether the place is legitimate. Registration, named clinicians and their credentials are the reassurance they came looking for, and burying them at the bottom of the page wastes the strongest thing you have.

We display exactly what your clinic and clinicians hold and nothing beyond it. We never imply regulatory status, invent credentials, or publish patient information or imagery without your confirmation that consent exists.

  • Your clinic's registration with the relevant healthcare regulator
  • Each clinician named, with their professional registration and number
  • Specialist register entries, where genuinely held
  • Professional indemnity arrangements
  • Your complaints procedure and how to raise a concern
  • Which insurers recognise the clinic, and whether you take self-pay
  • How patient information is handled and kept confidential
  • Reviews handled within the standards that apply to your clinicians' professions

What you offer

Services described as appointments, not as outcomes.

The most common failing on private clinic websites is writing about what a treatment achieves rather than what a patient is buying. Describing the appointment — its length, what happens in it, what they leave with — is both safer and considerably more useful to somebody deciding.

  1. 01

    Initial consultation

How long it lasts, who they will see, what history and examination it involves, and what they leave with. The single most important description on the site.

  2. 02

    Investigations and diagnostics

What you can arrange, whether it happens on site or elsewhere, and how results are communicated. Timescales matter enormously to a private patient.

  3. 03

    Follow-up and ongoing care

What happens after the first appointment, how many follow-ups are typical, and what each costs. Open-ended arrangements make people hesitate.

  4. 04

    Second opinions

A distinct and growing reason people come privately, and one that needs its own careful wording about working alongside existing care rather than replacing it.

  5. 05

    Working with your GP

Whether you write to the GP, whether a referral is needed to see you, and how care is coordinated. Reassuring, and frequently the deciding factor.

  6. 06

    What you do not do

Being explicit about what is outside the clinic's scope, and that you will say so and refer, is a mark of a serious practice rather than a lost enquiry.

All clinical content is written from what you supply and approved by you before publication. We do not claim outcomes, imply diagnosis, or describe treatments in terms that go beyond what your clinicians are comfortable stating.

The enquiry

Discretion, and as little information as possible.

A healthcare enquiry form should collect the minimum needed to arrange an appointment and nothing more. Asking somebody to describe their symptoms in a web form is both unnecessary and a bad idea, and a clinic that visibly understands that earns trust immediately.

  • Say plainly not to send clinical detail

It protects the patient, it protects you, and it signals that the clinic understands confidentiality. Almost no clinic website says it.

  • Ask how they want to be contacted

A private healthcare enquiry may be something the patient has not told their family about. Letting them choose a phone call, and when, is a small kindness that matters.

  • Handle insurance and self-pay separately

Two completely different routes with different information needed. Sorting it on the form saves a phone call every time.

The form emails your clinic; it is not a medical records system. We keep what it collects to the minimum and make that visible to the patient.

Careful wording

What a private clinic website must not do.

Healthcare advertising is closely regulated and the reputational cost of getting it wrong is far higher than the commercial gain from a bold claim. These are the lines we hold on every clinical site we build.

  • No claims about outcomes

Describing an appointment or a treatment is fine. Stating or implying what it will achieve for an individual is not.

  • No advertising of prescription-only medicines to the public

This is prohibited in the UK and it catches a great many clinic websites, particularly around aesthetics and weight management. We describe consultations and assessments instead.

  • No patient stories or images without documented consent

Consent must be specific, recorded and revocable, and we will ask you to confirm it exists for every case.

  • No implied NHS association

Where clinicians also work in the NHS, that can be stated factually about the individual without suggesting the clinic is part of it.

  • No pressure techniques

Countdowns, limited-time offers and scarcity language have no place on a healthcare website and would be a poor reflection on the clinic.

On wording

If something you would like to say sits close to a line, we will tell you and suggest wording that achieves the same thing safely, rather than publishing it and leaving the risk with you.

Where patients come from

Almost nobody plans to go private. They decide to.

The path is nearly always the same: a wait that turned out to be longer than expected, a symptom that has not settled, a conversation with somebody who went privately and was seen in a fortnight. By the time they search, the decision to spend the money has already been made and what remains is choosing where. That is a very short, very high-intent journey, and it rewards a website that answers rather than sells.

Geography matters less here than in most sectors — people will travel for the right clinician — but it still frames the search. Naming your city and the areas around it, alongside the clinicians and what they see, catches both the person looking locally and the one who has been given a name and is checking it.

Your site plan

Five pages, and the clinicians page carries the most weight.

Private patients choose a person before they choose a clinic. Named clinicians with real credentials do more for conversion than anything else on the site.

The logic of SEO

Waiting lists are doing your marketing. The website has to catch it.

Website + SEO is optional monthly work on how easily local customers find you, aimed at three searches agreed with you. Demand for private appointments is being generated by circumstances outside anybody's control; the question is only whether you are visible when somebody finally decides.

The kind of searches SEO works on

  1. private clinic Solihull
  2. private consultation Solihull
  3. private appointment Solihull

£349.99/month total, website included. SEO never promises a position, a number of enquiries or a revenue figure. It promises the work, every month.

Already have a website you are happy with? Ongoing SEO is only available with the managed website, as Website + SEO — PrimeStart does not run SEO on a site it does not host. If you would rather keep your current site, talk to us first and we will tell you honestly whether moving it across is worth it.

  1. 1

A website that reads as a real clinic

Named clinicians, registrations, published fees and clear appointment information. Against a site with stock photography and no names, the difference is decisive.

  2. 2

Found by the people already looking

The SEO work is monthly work on the local searches, your Google Business Profile and the listings that decide who appears when somebody near you types private consultation or the specialty by name.

  3. 3

    Specialty searches, handled carefully

People search for the specialty or the appointment they want. Those pages can be written accurately and still be found, without a single claim about outcomes.

  4. 4

A site that earns one consultation

Everything points at a single first appointment with a named clinician, arranged discreetly and priced in advance.

We research your area first, recommend three that make commercial sense, explain why, and agree them with you before any work starts. Search targets in regulated fields are chosen with the advertising rules in mind.

Your Client Platform

Add a clinician the week they join.

Every PrimeStart customer gets their own Client Platform. It is where the project lives: the stage it has reached, what we are waiting on, the draft to look through, and the button that says you are happy with it.

  • Follow the build stage by stage, without emailing to ask
  • Send documents and photographs straight from your phone
  • Message PrimeStart directly, with the whole thread in one place
  • Preview the draft on a laptop and a phone, and mark up changes
  • Approve the website before anything goes live
  • Ask for changes afterwards, and order services when you need them
  • See your SEO report, tracked searches and recommendations each month (Website + SEO)

There is nothing technical to learn. One login to your Client Platform, and you never have to open WordPress.

The plans

The same clinic website, with or without the monthly SEO work.

The Website is the whole thing: designed, built, hosted, managed and kept current, with your domain name included. Website + SEO adds monthly work on how easily local customers find it. Clear pricing. Straightforward terms. No surprises.

A private clinic website built on evidence: named clinicians, regulation, published fees and appointments described properly.

Designers usually charge for the build before the website exists. We absorb that cost and recover it through the monthly service, which is why the plan carries a minimum term, and why there is nothing to pay up front beyond the first month.

Complete the term and the website is yours: stay with us on a rolling basis with no new minimum, or move it to hosting of your own.

How it works

Your part is one meeting and a fee schedule.

Choose a plan, send us your clinicians and your fees, then tell us what to change on the draft. We do the rest.

See the full process, start to finish

  1. 1

    Choose your plan

Website, or Website + SEO. The upfront website design fee is £0 and your first monthly payment is taken at signup.

  2. 2

    Send us the clinic details

A short onboarding in your Client Platform: your clinicians and registrations, your services, your fees, your regulatory position, your insurers, and where enquiries should land.

  3. 3

    Ready to Build

We check we have what we need. If a fee or a piece of clinical or regulatory wording needs a decision, we say exactly which, and get on with the rest.

  4. 4

    First draft

A working draft on a laptop and a phone, for your clinicians and your indemnity provider to review before anything is published.

  5. 5

    Approve and launch

Reasonable in-scope changes, then you approve it. Nothing is published until you say so.

Timing, stated properly

We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment alone doesn’t start the clock; missing details, revisions or domain delays can extend it.

Before you approve

You review the draft and request reasonable in-scope changes. If there’s a genuine problem we can’t put right within scope after reasonable attempts, we can cancel the agreement and refund Website subscription payments made, subject to any disclosed non-recoverable third-party costs.

Questions private clinics ask us

How much does a website for a private clinic cost?
£49.99 a month. The upfront website design fee is £0 and your first £49.99 payment is taken at signup. The Website runs on an 18-month minimum term: 18 monthly payments of £49.99, or £899.82 in total. That covers the design and build, managed hosting, your domain name, SSL, security, backups, WordPress and plugin updates, enquiry forms, basic Google foundations, reasonable small changes subject to fair use, and your Client Platform.
What happens at the end of the 18 months?
The website is yours. Once the minimum term is complete and the payments due under it have been made, you can stay with PrimeStart at £49.99 a month on a rolling basis with no new minimum term, or move the website elsewhere and arrange your own hosting. Transfer is subject to the relevant third-party licences, which we explain at the time.
Is the domain name included?
Yes. Your domain name is included in the Website and managed by PrimeStart alongside the hosting and the SSL certificate. If you already own one, we work with the domain you have.
Will the site be compliant with healthcare advertising rules?
We build it to the lines described on this page — no outcome claims, no advertising of prescription-only medicines to the public, no patient material without consent — and we will flag anything that looks risky rather than publish it. What we do not do is give you compliance advice. Your clinicians and your indemnity provider approve the content before it goes live.
Can patients book appointments through the site?
The site takes an enquiry, not a booking, and deliberately so. PrimeStart sites do not include a booking engine and we would not put clinical scheduling on a marketing website. The form collects the minimum needed to arrange a call, and says plainly that clinical detail should not be sent through it.
Is the enquiry form safe for patient information?
It is an email form, so we design it not to collect health information at all: which service, referral status, insurance and how to make contact. The instruction not to include medical details is prominent. Anything clinical is taken by your own staff through your own systems.
How quickly will I see a first draft?
We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment and onboarding alone do not start that period. Nothing is published until you have reviewed and approved it, and clinical and indemnity review usually takes longer, which is entirely expected.
What is SEO, and do I need it to start?
SEO is optional ongoing work on your visibility for three agreed local searches, at £349.99 a month in total with the Website included: the £49.99 is not charged on top. The SEO work has a 6-month minimum, and every month of it also counts towards the 18-month Website term. Search targets are chosen with the advertising rules in mind. Nobody can promise a position on Google or a number of patients, and we do not.
