Web design in Angel

Search for a business here and Shoreditch, Farringdon and Soho turn up in the same results. That is the standard you are actually held to.

An Angel website built to the central-London standard it is actually judged against, for £49.99 a month.

  • Website: £49.99/month
  • Website design fee: £0 upfront
  • Minimum term, then it is yours: 18 months

Angel

Islington's flagship centre, and the only address in the borough where an evening out is a genuine decision, not a default.

The trading core runs from the junction outside the tube station north along Upper Street to Islington Green and beyond, with Chapel Market running west inside the same town centre boundary as a daily street market of fruit, vegetables, fish and household goods, and Camden Passage running parallel as a pedestrian lane of antique dealers, independents, cafes and restaurants. The mix is unusually complete for one centre: a long restaurant and bar street, fringe theatres, an exhibition venue, a cinema, chain and independent retail, and a substantial layer of clinics, salons, agencies, estate agents and professional offices above and behind the frontage. It is the one town centre in Islington with a levy-funded BID actively promoting it as a destination.

That completeness is also why the comparison isn't local. Clerkenwell next door is a weekday business district that empties at night; Barnsbury and Canonbury behind it have no trading street at all; Pentonville to the west is an arterial road. This is the only address in Islington where someone actively chooses to spend a Friday evening, which means the businesses here are set against Shoreditch, Farringdon and Soho, not against a quieter Islington side street. The BID's own marketing brings someone as far as Upper Street; it does not walk them through a particular door.

The last thirty seconds of that decision happens on your own site, and it happens against opposition that is not local and does not play fair: photographs that are actually of your room and your work, a booking or enquiry route that takes two taps and confirms instantly, prices or a straight explanation of them, and pages that load before the tube doors close. We build that site for £49.99 a month, and if you want ongoing work on the specific N1 searches that decide it, that is the second plan rather than a second supplier.

Two ways to start against a central-London comparison.

A professional website, or that website with ongoing SEO from the start. The website is built to the same standard whichever route you take.

An Angel search is really a central-London search wearing an N1 postcode.

"Restaurant Angel Islington", "clinic N1", "salon Upper Street": the person typing this is realistically also looking at Shoreditch, Farringdon and Soho on the same phone screen. Ongoing SEO is monthly work on three agreed searches like these, so more of that comparison lands on you.

  1. 01
    “restaurant Angel Islington

Booked as an evening destination, weighed against Shoreditch and Farringdon on the same journey, so the decision is made from photographs and a menu rather than a walk down Upper Street.

  2. 02
    “clinic N1

A private clinic search here competes with the same postcode's density of professional offices, and a customer expects the same clarity on qualifications, pricing and booking that a Clerkenwell or Farringdon practice would offer.

  3. 03
    “salon Upper Street

Chosen from real photographs of the actual space and stylists rather than stock imagery, because Camden Passage and Upper Street both have enough choice that a generic template loses to a specific one.

Examples only. The three searches are agreed with you around the work you want more of and what people searching Angel and N1 actually type. Nobody can promise a position, and we don't.

Angel industries

The trade decides the shape of the site. Angel decides who else is in the running.

A restaurant on Upper Street and a clinic behind Camden Passage need different websites, but both are compared against Shoreditch and Farringdon before Islington enters the conversation.

Eighteen months, then the website is yours.

Moving the website elsewhere is subject to the third-party licences any website relies on, such as WordPress, plugins, fonts and stock photography. The full wording lives in the Website Subscription Terms.

Everything a Angel business needs from its website, in one monthly plan.

Design, build, hosting, security and the ongoing technical work are all part of the same plan, so there is nothing to add on and nothing to remember to renew.

Questions from Angel businesses

Do you work with businesses in Angel?
Yes, across the town centre boundary that runs from Islington Green down Upper Street to Chapel Market, along Camden Passage, and into N1 more widely. Everything is designed, built and managed remotely, so there is no office to visit and no travel to arrange.
Is Chapel Market part of Angel or Pentonville?
Angel. Islington Council's own town centre boundary here extends west to include Chapel Market, even though it sits closer to Pentonville geographically. The website treats it as this centre's, because that is what the council's own boundary and the local trading pattern say it is.
The Angel Islington BID already promotes the area. Do I still need my own website?
Yes, and more than in most of Islington. The BID's marketing, and the fact that this is a genuine evening destination people travel in for, brings someone to Upper Street; it doesn't choose which restaurant, clinic or salon they walk into once they're there. That last decision is made on a phone, against Shoreditch and Farringdon as much as against your actual neighbours, and it's decided by your own site.
We already have a website we like. Can you just do the SEO?
No. SEO is not sold on its own any more — it is only available as part of Website + SEO, £349.99 a month in total, and that means building you a new PrimeStart website rather than adding search work onto the one you have now. For a local business that already looks the part and simply isn't winning the N1 searches, that's exactly what Website + SEO is built for. Nobody can promise rankings, and we don't.
What does an Angel business website cost?
Website is £49.99 a month with a £0 upfront design fee, and it costs the same here as anywhere else. The first £49.99 is taken at signup, and there is an 18-month minimum term, £899.82 in total. Once that term is complete, the website is yours.
How does ongoing SEO work?
Website + SEO is £349.99 a month total, with the website included rather than charged on top. Each month we work on three agreed local searches, for example "clinic N1" or "restaurant Angel Islington", alongside your Google Business Profile and the website itself, then report on what was done. Nobody can promise rankings, and we don't.
We're a newer business on Upper Street without an established name yet. Does that matter?
Less than the comparison you're actually up against would suggest. A visitor weighing this against Shoreditch or Soho for the evening has usually never heard of any of the options either — they're deciding from what the site shows them there and then, which puts a newer business on genuinely equal terms with an established one.
