Old Spitalfields Market has traded on a licence granted by Charles I in 1638, from buildings put up between 1885 and 1893 known as the Horner Buildings, and it now runs seven days a week with a vintage market each Thursday. A few streets over, Petticoat Lane Market splits in two: Wentworth Street trades six days a week, while Middlesex Street - renamed from Petticoat Lane around 1830 to record the boundary with the City - opens on Sundays only and closes by about two. The Old Truman Brewery, once the largest brewery in the world before it closed in 1989, now carries more than 250 businesses across its eleven-acre site. Christ Church Spitalfields, built by Nicholas Hawksmoor between 1702 and 1714, and the Huguenot weavers' houses on Fournier, Wilkes and Princelet Streets sit among them, and the building at the Fournier Street corner has been a Huguenot chapel, a Methodist chapel, a synagogue and, since 1976, the Jamme Masjid.
