Web design for businesses on Green Street

You trade on the line between two districts, which is why no two directories agree whether Queen's Market is in one or the other.

A Green Street site that stops four names competing for you, for £49.99 a month.

  • Website: £49.99/month
  • Website design fee: £0 upfront
  • Minimum term, then it is yours: 18 months

Two ways to start on Green Street.

A professional website, or that website with ongoing SEO from the start. Both put the street first, because the district names on either side of it will not agree.

Green Street

A shopping street that is also the boundary, with Queen's Market at the top of it.

Green Street runs from Romford Road down to Barking Road and forms the boundary between East Ham and West Ham. That is not a technicality: it means the shops on one side and the shops on the other are in different districts, and a business here can be described accurately by two different place names, or by a third if a directory files it under the station at the top of the road.

The street has a strong retail identity of its own. It specialises in goods from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan alongside Afro-Caribbean and African food stores, and it has been known as Little India since the 1990s. Queen's Market sits near the top of the street. The Boleyn Tavern stands at Morley's Corner, at the Barking Road junction, and Green Street House, known as Boleyn Castle, stood here for more than 400 years before it was demolished in 1955.

The southern end carries the heaviest association. The Boleyn Ground was the home of West Ham United from 1904 to 2016, and it stood at that end of this street. The names have not settled since: the ground was universally called Upton Park after the station, the club is called West Ham, and the street itself is the boundary of East Ham. Older parts of the road had different names again, with the northern section historically called Gypsy Lane until 19th-century urbanisation and the southern extension known as Blind Lane before being renamed Boundary Road.

Four names can describe one shop between Romford Road and Barking Road.

Green Street, East Ham, West Ham and Upton Park all point at the same premises depending on who is writing. Ongoing SEO is monthly work on three agreed searches like these.

  1. 01
    “restaurant green street

The street name is the only one of the four that is unambiguous, because East Ham and West Ham each own one side of it and neither owns the road.

  2. 02
    “grocer queen's market

Queen's Market near the top of Green Street is a destination in its own right, and the strongest single landmark this street has to point a customer at.

  3. 03
    “tailor upton park

Made by customers who navigate from the station at the top of the road, and a search the Upton Park page covers from the other direction.

Examples only. The three searches are agreed with you around the work you want more of and what people on the street actually type. Nobody can promise a position, and we don't.

Green Street industries

Specialist retail that people travel to, on a street with four names.

A caterer near Morley's Corner and a grocer at Queen's Market both draw customers from well beyond the district, which makes being findable under the street name rather than a district name unusually important.

Questions from Green Street businesses

Do you build websites for businesses on Green Street?
Yes, for the shops, food businesses, services and market traders along the street and around Queen's Market. Everything is designed, built and managed remotely, so there is no office to visit.
Should our address say East Ham or West Ham?
Say Green Street. The road is the boundary between the two, so either district name is arguably correct and both are incomplete. Leading with the street, then naming Queen's Market or the Barking Road end, is the only version that is unambiguous to a customer and to a search engine.
Customers find us by searching Upton Park. Is that a problem?
Not if the site handles it. Upton Park station sits at the top of this street and a great many people navigate by it, so the site can name it as the nearest station without pretending to be in the Upton Park district, which has its own page here.
We already have a website we like. Can you just do the SEO?
No. SEO is not sold on its own any more — it is only available as part of Website + SEO, £349.99 a month in total, and that means building you a new PrimeStart website rather than adding search work onto the one you have now. A business near Queen's Market would be starting from the same place as everyone else here: a new site built around the trade, with the SEO work running from day one rather than retrofitted onto what already exists. Nobody can promise rankings, and we don't.
What does a Green Street business website cost?
Website is £49.99 a month with a £0 upfront design fee, and it costs the same on Green Street as anywhere else. The first £49.99 is taken at signup, and there is an 18-month minimum term, £899.82 in total. Once that term is complete, the website is yours.
How does ongoing SEO work?
Website + SEO is £349.99 a month total, with the website included rather than charged on top. Each month we work on three agreed local searches, for example "restaurant green street" or "grocer queen's market", alongside your Google Business Profile and the website itself. Nobody can promise rankings, and we don't.
Is this the same as the East Ham or Upton Park page?
No. The East Ham page covers High Street North and South and the town hall; the Upton Park page covers an 1880s estate name and the station built for it. This page is written only about Green Street itself, Queen's Market and the ends of the road.
