Woodberry Wetlands and the West Reservoir, wrapped in a housing estate that's still, genuinely, being rebuilt.

The East and West Reservoirs were built in 1833 to purify and store New River water. The East Reservoir became Woodberry Wetlands, opened by Sir David Attenborough in 2016, an eleven-hectare reed-fringed reserve on Thames Water land managed by London Wildlife Trust; the West Reservoir now runs as a watersports and leisure facility, and the New River loop still runs past both of them. The Woodberry Down estate around the two reservoirs originally held roughly 2,000 homes, considered too costly and complex to refurbish, which is why Hackney Council, working with Berkeley Homes among its partners, began rebuilding the estate in phases from 2007 to 2009 onward. It's still going. We don't publish a homes-completed figure, a completion date or an investment total for this site, because those are targets for a long-running programme, not facts about what exists on the ground today, and presenting a target as delivered would mislead a reader rather than inform them.

That ongoing rebuild is precisely why a business near Woodberry Wetlands or the West Reservoir can't rely on what search results already show. Old street layouts, old photographs and old assumptions about the estate keep surfacing for a place that has physically changed underneath them, which means a business working here - a trade moving between phases, a practitioner working from a newly built flat by the New River loop, a service aimed at people who've just moved in - is judged against an out-of-date picture unless its own website corrects it. The website is the one thing a business here fully controls: saying plainly what exists now, where you actually work, and what you actually do, and keeping that current as the estate keeps changing.

There's no parade to fall back on either. Retail on the estate is small and built into the housing itself, not a shopping street, so this page doesn't invent one. What it does instead is name the reservoirs, the wetlands and the estate honestly, and leave the Castle Climbing Centre, Clissold Park and Abney Park Cemetery to Stoke Newington and the Broadway parade to Stamford Hill, since none of those are on this ground.
