Web design in Selsdon

Selsdon grew up in the 1920s and 30s around a nature reserve its own residents fought to save from development. Web design here should say more than "next to the woods."

Selsdon Wood exists as 200 acres of protected meadow and ancient woodland because a local campaign spent over ten years raising the money to buy it outright rather than let it be built on, opening to the public in 1936. Most of Selsdon itself is the settled 1930s suburb that grew up around that boundary, centred on the shopping parade at Selsdon Triangle. We build a website for the suburb, not just the reserve at its edge, for £99.99 a month with £0 upfront design fee, and we can work on your search visibility too.

Why a website

In Selsdon, most searches are for the Triangle or a named road, not the nature reserve. The website should be built for that.

A settled inter-war suburb built up once its manor estate was sold for housing means most people searching Selsdon are looking for a business on their own road, not planning a walk in the woods.

01

They check you serve their part of CR2

A family suburb of similar 1930s housing means a customer checks a business is close by before anything else.

02

They notice a generic template quickly

A site that could belong to any outer-London suburb looks out of place in an area with a history of its own, and Selsdon's is one of a protected wood and a 1930s housing boom.

03

They want to see work on roads like theirs

Photographs of finished jobs on nearby roads reassure more than a paragraph of copy.

04

They want to enquire without ringing

A short enquiry form that reaches your phone lets someone ask for a quote after a quiet evening spent comparing a few names.

Selsdon

A suburb built once its manor estate was broken up, kept apart from the town by the woodland it saved.

Selsdon's last private squire died in 1925 and the manor was sold on for housing soon after. Concern at how quickly the estate might be built over led a local committee to spend more than ten years raising the funds to buy 200 acres of it outright instead, a campaign that succeeded in 1929. Croydon Council's own page for Selsdon Wood Nature Reserve confirms it remains 200 acres of woodland and meadow today, managed by the Council on land owned by the National Trust.

What that means for a business here today

Most of Selsdon is a settled 1930s suburb.

The manor sale, not the reserve, is what actually built the suburb, and most of it is family housing well away from the woodland edge.

The reserve is a real boundary, not the whole story.

Selsdon Wood is part of the area's identity, and a website can mention it honestly without the whole page being about the woods.

A settled suburb notices a local name.

Many similar businesses serve the same family roads, so a website that reads as Selsdon, with the real parade and the real roads, stands out from a generic Croydon page.

Getting found locally

A Selsdon search is usually for the Triangle or a named road, not the reserve.

"Estate agent selsdon", "gardener cr2", "dentist selsdon triangle": each expects a genuine local business. Website + SEO is the ongoing work of making sure the right search finds you.

  • Local searches, agreed with you. We choose the three searches that matter most to you, for example "estate agent selsdon", "gardener cr2" and "dentist selsdon triangle", and work on them every month.
  • Google Business Profile. Set up and kept up to date so your listing shows on the map in Selsdon, with your hours, your work and a way to get in touch.
  • Reviews from genuine customers. A quick way to ask customers for a Google review once a job is done, which counts when several similar businesses serve the same roads.
  • A page that says Selsdon specifically. Written for Selsdon, its roads and its parade, and not a general Croydon page with the name swapped.
  • A monthly report you can read. A plain monthly summary in your Client Platform, written as you would explain a job to a customer: what we did and what is next.

We never promise rankings or a number of customers. We do promise consistent, honest work on being found locally — and to show you exactly what we did.

Built for you

A borough-wide template misses what people mean by Selsdon. Web design here should know the suburb as well as the wood.

An estate agent on the Triangle and a gardener working Selsdon's larger plots both need a website that reads as genuinely local, not a page built around the reserve next door. A template can't do that. We can.

Every PrimeStart website is designed from scratch and custom coded on WordPress, with no page builders and no bought theme. For a Selsdon business that means pages about the roads and house types you actually work on.

“Selsdon is a settled family suburb, not just a name people attach to the nature reserve. The website should know the difference.”

Will the website mention Selsdon Wood?
Only if it's genuinely relevant to your business. Selsdon Wood is a real, well-known part of the area, so we're honest that it's there, but the page is built around your business on Selsdon's streets, not the nature reserve at its edge.
We work Selsdon as well as Sanderstead and South Croydon nearby. Can the site say that?
Yes, and it should if that's genuinely true — the site can name every area you cover clearly rather than leaving a customer to guess.
We already have a website we like. Can you just do the SEO?
No. SEO is not sold on its own any more — it is only available as part of Website + SEO, £349.99 a month in total, and that means building you a new PrimeStart website rather than adding search work onto the one you have now. Nobody can promise rankings, and we don't.
How much does a website cost with PrimeStart?
Website is £99.99 a month for 12 months with no upfront design fee, or £899.91 paid upfront for the year (save 25%). Website + SEO is £349.99 a month in total, or £3,149.91 paid upfront for 12 months of Website and SEO. For new agreements, after the first 12 months the website continues automatically at £49.99 a month for hosting and aftercare, with no new minimum term, unless you give 30 days' notice; Website + SEO continues at £299.99 a month while SEO is still running. Existing customers keep the pricing in their own agreement.
Do I own the website?
Yes. On the monthly plan the site is yours after the agreed 12-month term, subject to the contract. If you pay upfront you can choose an early handover once the site is complete and approved, or keep it managed with us.
Do you also cover the rest of Croydon?
Yes — Sanderstead and every other part of Croydon has its own page, and the Croydon page covers the whole borough if that reads better for how you trade.
How long until my site is live?
Once we have your details and photos we design your site, show it to you, make your amendments and go live only when you've approved it. You'll see the first design before anything is public.
