Web design in Southgate

Web design for Southgate, once the southern gateway to Enfield Chase and now one of the borough's most significant district centres.

Charles Holden's art deco station, opened as the Piccadilly line reached Southgate in 1933, still anchors an area that pulls trade from across Enfield and into the London Borough of Barnet. We build the website for the business you run in Southgate itself, for £79.99 a month with £0 upfront design fee.

Why a website

A significant centre with a catchment beyond the borough. A website has to earn a wide search, not just a local one.

Southgate Green, Chase Side and the tube station pull in trade from across Enfield and into Barnet, so a search here rarely turns up just one obvious answer.

01

You're competing beyond the borough boundary

With a catchment reaching into Barnet, a Southgate search draws in more competing businesses than a purely local centre would.

02

They're deciding between here and Oakwood or Cockfosters

Someone comparing a Southgate business against one nearby needs a clear reason to choose the district centre itself.

03

They want to see real, local work

Photographs of jobs finished around Southgate Green or Chase Side do more to win trust than a general claim to cover "N14".

04

They want to ask a question without a call

An enquiry form that reaches your phone catches the evening decision — someone comparing a shortlist of Southgate names after work.

Southgate

The old gateway to Enfield Chase, rebuilt around a landmark art deco station.

Southgate merged from two older settlements by 1829 around what became Southgate Green, but its defining transformation came in 1933, when the Piccadilly line arrived and Charles Holden's Grade II*-listed station gave the area a genuine landmark. Development was largely complete within the decade.

The old settlements merge

Two earlier settlements come together around what is now Southgate Green, forming the area's original centre.

1859

Walker Cricket Ground opens

The ground has been in continuous use since, one of the area's oldest institutions.

1862

Christ Church is built

The church is built with what is described as London's largest collection of pre-Raphaelite stained glass.

1913

Grovelands Park is bought

The old Southgate Council buys the 92-acre park, securing it as public open space for the area.

1933

The Piccadilly line and the North Circular arrive

Charles Holden's art deco Southgate tube station opens as the line reaches the area, the same year the North Circular Road is completed through Edmonton and Southgate.

1965

Southgate joins the new Enfield borough

The London Government Act abolishes Southgate's own municipal borough status, merging it into the new London Borough of Enfield.

What this means for your website today

A significant district centre.

Southgate Green, Chase Side and the tube station draw a catchment reaching into the neighbouring London Borough of Barnet.

A genuinely cosmopolitan community.

Greek, Jewish, Turkish and Japanese communities, among others, mean a website benefits from being specific rather than generic.

Not the same as Oakwood.

Southgate is the older, larger centre; Oakwood is a separate, smaller, planned suburb one stop north with its own page.

Getting found locally

A Southgate search draws competitors from beyond the borough. Being the clear choice matters.

"Estate agent southgate", "dentist chase side southgate", "solicitor n14" — a significant centre with a catchment reaching into Barnet means more names on the same results page. Website + SEO is the ongoing work of making sure the right search finds you first. See Enfield Council's own page on Southgate Pocket Park.

  • Local searches, agreed with you. We pick the three searches that matter most to your business — say, "estate agent southgate", "dentist chase side southgate" and "solicitor n14" — and work on them every month.
  • Google Business Profile. Set up and kept current so you appear on the map for Southgate, with your hours, your work and a way to reach you.
  • Reviews from genuine customers. A simple way to ask satisfied customers for a Google review once a job or sale completes.
  • Pages for where you actually trade. Southgate Green, Chase Side or the wider centre, written properly rather than one page for the whole borough.
  • A monthly report you can read. A straightforward account each month of what changed and what's next, in your Client Platform.

We never promise rankings or a number of customers. We do promise consistent, honest work on being found locally — and to show you exactly what we did.

Built for you

A significant centre needs a website that stands out, not one that blends in.

A business in Southgate is competing with more names, from a wider catchment, than almost anywhere else in the borough. That needs a website that makes a clear, confident case — not a generic page that could belong to any district centre. A template can't do that. We can.

Every PrimeStart website is designed from scratch and custom coded on WordPress in HTML and PHP — no page builders, no theme bought off a shelf with your name typed in.

“Southgate's catchment reaches into Barnet. Standing out matters more here than almost anywhere else in the borough.”

Is Southgate the same as the Enfield borough hub page?
No. The borough page covers all of Enfield; this page is about Southgate itself, a significant district centre with its own history and its own catchment reaching into Barnet.
Isn't Southgate the same as Oakwood?
No. They share the N14 postcode and the Piccadilly line, but Southgate is the older, larger centre around Southgate Green and the art deco station; Oakwood is a separate, smaller, planned suburb one stop north with its own separate page.
How much does a website cost with PrimeStart?
Website is £79.99 a month for 12 months with no upfront design fee, or £815.90 paid once. Website + SEO is £349.99 a month in total, or £2,192.90 paid upfront. After the first 12 months, the service continues automatically at £49.99 a month with no new minimum term, unless you give 30 days' notice.
Do I own the website?
Yes. On the monthly plan the site is yours after the agreed 12-month term, subject to the contract. If you pay upfront you can choose an early handover once the site is complete and approved, or keep it managed with us.
Is the competition in Southgate really that different from smaller parts of the borough?
Usually, yes. A significant district centre with a catchment reaching into Barnet brings in more competitors on the same search than most of Enfield's smaller neighbourhoods see.
How long until my site is live?
Once we have your details and photos we design your site, show it to you, make your amendments and go live only when you've approved it. You'll see the first design before anything is public.
