Web design in Streatham

One road, 1.8 miles long. Web design in Streatham has to know which stretch you're on.

Streatham High Road follows the old Roman road south from London, and at roughly 1.8 miles it's often cited as one of the longest straight high streets in Europe — so Streatham Hill near Brixton, the historic centre by St Leonard's Church, and Streatham Common further south are genuinely different stretches of the same road. We build the website that's specific about your stretch, for £99.99 a month with £0 upfront design fee, and we can work on your search visibility too.

Why a website

In Streatham, there's no square or common to search around. The website has to name the stretch of road instead.

Streatham High Road runs for roughly 1.8 miles without a central square to anchor a search on. Streatham Hill, the historic centre by St Leonard's Church, and Streatham Common are all real, different stretches — and a search usually means one of them specifically, not the whole road.

01

A client wants to know which end of the road you're on

Someone searching from Streatham Hill near Brixton isn't looking for a practice a mile and a half away by Streatham Common — the distance matters on a road this long.

02

The historic centre reads differently to the Hill

Around St Leonard's Church, the area feels like a traditional high street; up towards Streatham Hill, it's closer to Brixton's energy. One website tone doesn't fit both.

03

They want to see comparable, real work

Photographs of a practice or shop on the actual stretch of the High Road a client already knows do more to reassure than any paragraph of copy.

04

They want an honest sense of the area today

Streatham has had a mixed reputation in the past and has changed a great deal since — an honest, current website does more good than any claim about the street's history, good or bad.

Streatham

A Roman road, a Georgian spa, and a stretch of shops that was once the West End of South London.

Streatham's shape comes from the road it's built along, not a square it's built around — and its identity has shifted more than once along that same 1.8-mile line.

The road that gives Streatham its name

Streatham means "the hamlet on the street" — the street being the Roman road south from London, now followed by Streatham High Road, part of the old London-Brighton route sometimes called Stane Street.

1700s

Streatham Wells draws wealthy Londoners

Mineral springs on Streatham Common and along what's now Wellfield Road are celebrated for their health-giving properties, and wealthy City merchants begin building estates around them.

1856

Streatham Hill station opens

The West End of London and Crystal Palace Railway reaches Streatham Hill, with two more stations following within fifteen years, and Victorian development spreads along the High Road.

Early-mid 20th century

"The West End of South London"

The Streatham Hill Theatre, three cinemas, the Locarno ballroom and Streatham Ice Rink (open from 1931) draw crowds from across the city, earning Streatham the nickname.

2002 onward

The High Road is remade

After a contentious 2002 poll named it Britain's Worst Street, Streatham High Road sees sustained investment, including a new Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre in 2013 with a 60m x 30m rink and a 25m pool.

What that means for you, trading here today

It's one road, not one place.

Streatham Hill, the historic centre and Streatham Common are all genuinely different stretches of the same 1.8-mile High Road — a search usually means one of them specifically.

The entertainment era left real landmarks.

The former Streatham Hill Theatre and Locarno buildings still stand, physical evidence of a period worth knowing about even though the venues themselves have closed.

The area keeps changing, honestly.

From a 2002 low point to a rebuilt leisure centre in 2013, Streatham's reputation has moved more than once — a website that shows the area as it is now serves a business better than one that ignores its history.

Getting found locally

A "Streatham" search could mean any point along 1.8 miles of road. Ongoing SEO narrows it to yours.

"Dentist streatham high road", "estate agent sw16", "personal trainer streatham hill" — each names a specific stretch. Website + SEO is the ongoing work of making sure your stretch, not just the postcode, is what people find.

  • Local searches, agreed with you. We pick the three searches that matter most to your business — say, "dentist streatham high road", "estate agent sw16" and "personal trainer streatham hill" — and work on them every month.
  • Google Business Profile. Set up and kept current so you appear on the map for your exact stretch of Streatham, with your hours, your work and a way to reach you.
  • Reviews from genuine customers. A simple way to ask satisfied clients for a Google review once a job completes — read closely by someone comparing options along a long high road.
  • Pages that name your stretch of the road. Streatham Hill, the historic centre, or Streatham Common — written properly for where you actually are, not one page for the whole 1.8 miles.
  • A monthly report you can read. A straightforward account each month of what changed and what's next, written the way you'd explain a job to a client — in your Client Platform.

We never promise rankings or a number of customers. We do promise consistent, honest work on being found locally — and to show you exactly what we did.

Built for you

Streatham Hill needs one website. Streatham Common needs another. Web design here has to know the difference.

A dentist near St Leonard's Church, an estate agent covering the whole postcode, and a trainer working Streatham Hill all need a website that's specific about the stretch of road they trade on. A template can't tell the difference. We can.

Every PrimeStart website is designed from scratch and custom coded on WordPress in HTML and PHP — no page builders, no theme bought off a shelf with your name typed in. Built with the same care as the rebuilt stretch of the High Road itself.

“It's the longest high street in Europe by some counts, and no two ends of it search the same way.”

  • 1

Pages that name your part of the road

Streatham Hill, the historic centre, or Streatham Common — each written for the search a client genuinely runs.

  • 2

Your work, shown the way it's searched for

Real project photography, structured so a Streatham client can judge your work before they ever pick up the phone.

  • 3

Your reviews, where people look for them

Genuine Google reviews shown on the site, because a client comparing options along a long high road checks every one before they commit.

  • 4

An enquiry form that asks the right questions

Which stretch of the road, the job, when — so you can respond properly without a wasted first message.

We're on Streatham Hill, not near the Common. Does the website need to say that specifically?
Yes. Streatham High Road runs for roughly 1.8 miles, and Streatham Hill near Brixton is a genuinely different stretch to the historic centre or Streatham Common further south. A site that just says "Streatham" undersells exactly where you are on a long road.
How much does a website cost with PrimeStart?
Website is £99.99 a month for 12 months with no upfront design fee, or £899.91 paid upfront for the year (save 25%). Website + SEO is £349.99 a month in total, or £3,149.91 paid upfront for 12 months of Website and SEO. For new agreements, after the first 12 months the website continues automatically at £49.99 a month for hosting and aftercare, with no new minimum term, unless you give 30 days' notice; Website + SEO continues at £299.99 a month while SEO is still running. Existing customers keep the pricing in their own agreement.
Do I own the website?
Yes. On the monthly plan the site is yours after the agreed 12-month term, subject to the contract. If you pay upfront you can choose an early handover once the site is complete and approved, or keep it managed with us.
Streatham High Road has had a mixed reputation. Does that matter for the website?
Only in the sense that it's worth being honest, not defensive — the area has changed over the decades and continues to, and a website that shows real, current work and a genuine local address does more good than any claim about the street's reputation, past or present.
Can the site show our trade body membership and insurance clearly?
Yes. Trade body membership, public liability insurance and any accreditations you hold are set out as normal content, placed where a client checking your name will actually look for them, using the wording and any logos you're entitled to use.
How long until my site is live?
Once we have your details and photos we design your site, show it to you, make your amendments and go live only when you've approved it. You'll see the first design before anything is public.
