Web design across Bexley

Bexley has no Underground line and twelve mainline stations that mostly point at London. Web design here has to work for a borough people commute out of, not through.

PrimeStart designs, hosts and looks after websites for tradespeople and small businesses across Bexley — Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Erith, Welling, Crayford and Abbey Wood. Built to name your actual town on this borough of four separate high streets, from £79.99 a month with £0 upfront design fee.

Why a website

Bexley was built from four separate towns in 1965. Web design in Bexley has to say which one you actually trade in.

Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Erith and Crayford each kept their own high street and their own search habits after the 1965 merger. A site that only says "Bexley" reads as vague to a customer who already knows which town they live in.

01

They search the town, not the borough

A resident of Sidcup rarely searches "Bexley" for a tradesperson — they search "Sidcup", the way someone in Bexleyheath searches that name instead. A site naming only the borough answers a search nobody actually runs.

02

Abbey Wood moves faster than the rest of the borough

Since the Elizabeth line opened its terminus there in May 2022, search and demand around Abbey Wood have shifted quickly. A business near it needs a site that keeps pace, not one written once and left alone.

03

They want to see the finished work

Photographs of jobs finished on streets they recognise — Bexleyheath Broadway, Sidcup High Street, Crayford — do more to win trust than a general claim to cover the whole borough.

04

They want to enquire without a phone call

An enquiry form that reaches your phone catches the evening decision — someone comparing two or three businesses after work, wherever in the borough they're based.

Bexley

Four Kent towns, joined into one London borough in 1965, still searched separately.

Bexley did not grow outward from a single centre the way many London boroughs did. It was assembled in 1965 from towns that already had their own identities, and those identities have mostly stayed intact. See Bexley Council's own page on Discover Bexley.

Hall Place is built

The Grade I-listed Hall Place, now a museum and gardens, is built for Sir John Champneys, a former Lord Mayor of London, and remains one of the borough's best-known landmarks.

1866

The Dartford Loop Line opens

The South Eastern Railway builds the Dartford Loop Line through what would become Sidcup, Albany Park and Bexley, setting the mainline rail pattern the borough still relies on today.

Erith and Abbey Wood are built up

Large-scale housebuilding, including the Co-op Estate near Abbey Wood, extends the built-up area east from Woolwich toward the Kent border.

1965

The modern borough is created

The London Government Act 1963 creates the London Borough of Bexley on 1 April, merging the Municipal Borough of Bexley, the Municipal Borough of Erith, Crayford Urban District and the Sidcup area, previously part of Kent.

24 May 2022

The Elizabeth line reaches Abbey Wood

Abbey Wood becomes the Elizabeth line's south-eastern terminus — the borough's first Underground-style rail connection, putting Canary Wharf eleven minutes away.

What that means for you, trading here today

Four towns, four search habits.

Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Erith and Crayford each kept their own identity after 1965. A site has to say which one it belongs to.

One station changed the search pattern nearby.

The Elizabeth line's arrival at Abbey Wood in 2022 shifted demand and search behaviour there faster than in the rest of the borough.

Mostly a commuter borough, still.

Twelve National Rail stations carry residents into the City and central London every day; the businesses that serve them are found locally, not passed on a commute through the borough.

Getting found locally

Searches here carry the town name — Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Erith, Abbey Wood — because the borough was never really one place.

"Estate agent bexleyheath", "builder sidcup", "letting agent abbey wood" — the same borough behaves like four different markets depending which old town someone is in. Website + SEO is the ongoing work of putting your business in front of those searches.

  • Local searches, agreed with you. We pick the three searches that matter most to your business — say, "estate agent bexleyheath", "builder sidcup" and "letting agent abbey wood" — and work on them every month.
  • Google Business Profile. Set up and kept current, so you appear on the map for the part of Bexley you actually cover, with your hours, photos and a way to call you.
  • Reviews from genuine customers. A simple way to ask happy customers for a Google review after the job, useful in a borough where several towns each have their own established trades.
  • A page per town you serve. Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Erith, Abbey Wood — each written properly, not one page claiming the whole borough at once.
  • A monthly report you can read. How each town you've targeted moved that month, set out in your Client Platform.

We never promise rankings or a number of customers. We do promise consistent, honest work on being found locally — and to show you exactly what we did.

Built for you

An estate agent near Abbey Wood and a builder working Sidcup's streets need very different websites.

Bexley's four old towns mean two businesses in the same borough can face almost opposite conditions — one riding a fast-changing station area, the other working an established, settled high street. A template can't tell the difference. We can.

Every PrimeStart website is designed from scratch and custom coded on WordPress in HTML and PHP — no page builders, no theme bought off a shelf with your name typed in. Built to hold its own on any of Bexley's four high streets.

“The Abbey Wood agent needs a site that keeps pace with a station that only opened in 2022. The Bexleyheath builder needs one that shows years of settled local trust. Same borough, completely different website.”

Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Erith, Abbey Wood — each written for how people there search, not one page for the whole borough.

  • 2

    Your services, structured for search

Each service on its own page, described the way people across Bexley look for it.

  • 3

Your reviews, where people look for them

Genuine Google reviews shown on the site, because in a borough of separate town centres, reviews are what a customer checks before crossing into a town they don't already know.

  • 4

Town, the job, photos and timing — so you can rule out the far side of the borough before you pick up the phone.

Request a call
Which parts of Bexley do you cover?
All of it: Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Welling, Crayford, Erith, Belvedere, Bexley Village and the Bexley side of Abbey Wood and Thamesmead. Everything is designed, built and managed remotely, so there is no office to visit.
I work in Bexleyheath and Sidcup. Do I need a page for each?
If the work differs between them, yes. People search by the town they live in, so a page that names Abbey Wood's streets and another that names Sidcup's does more than one page listing both. Extra area pages can be ordered through your Client Platform when you need them.
Does Bexley really have no Underground?
That was true until 24 May 2022. Bexley has twelve National Rail stations into Cannon Street, Charing Cross and London Bridge, but the borough had no Underground, DLR or Tramlink service until the Elizabeth line opened its south-eastern terminus at Abbey Wood, on the borough's boundary with Greenwich. We would not claim the rest of the borough has tube access it doesn't.
How much does a website cost with PrimeStart?
Website is £79.99 a month for 12 months with no upfront design fee, or £815.90 paid once. Website + SEO is £349.99 a month in total, or £2,192.90 paid upfront. After the first 12 months, the service continues automatically at £49.99 a month with no new minimum term, unless you give 30 days' notice.
Do I own the website?
Yes. On the monthly plan the site is yours after the agreed 12-month term, subject to the contract. If you pay upfront you can choose an early handover once the site is complete and approved, or keep it managed with us.
Abbey Wood is changing fast since the Elizabeth line arrived. Should we wait before building a site?
No — a fast-changing area is exactly where being found early matters most. Tell us honestly what you offer and who you're trying to reach, and we'll build a site around where things stand now, not a guess at where they'll be in a few years.
How long until my site is live?
Once we have your details and photos we design your site, show it to you, make your amendments and go live only when you've approved it. You'll see the first design before anything is public.
