Web design in North Cray

North Cray is a village strip along the River Cray, not a town with a high street. Web design here has to work for a genuinely rural stretch of the Green Belt, not invent a centre that isn't there.

North Cray sits in the Metropolitan Green Belt between Foots Cray and Bexley Village, east of Sidcup and south of Bexleyheath. It was once its own parish in the Hundred of Ruxley — absorbing the neighbouring parish of Ruxley in 1557 — and stayed an independent civil parish under Bromley Rural District until 1934, when it merged into Chislehurst and Sidcup, then into the London Borough of Bexley in 1965. St James' Church and a Grade II listed war memorial mark the village today, alongside The White Cross pub. We build the website that describes North Cray honestly, for £99.99 a month with £0 upfront design fee, and we can work on your search visibility too.

Why a website

There's no high street here, and no station either. A website is how a North Cray business is found at all.

North Cray is genuinely small — a village church, a war memorial and a pub, not a town centre. A business here is found by a search that already knows the village's name, not by passing footfall.

01

A resident searches the village, not a bigger neighbour

With no shopping parade or station to browse, someone in North Cray searches the name directly, or defaults to "Sidcup" or "Bexley" if they're not sure the smaller name will return results.

02

They want honesty about scale

North Cray is small enough that an overstated site — claiming a high street or a station that doesn't exist — reads as untrustworthy rather than impressive.

03

The Green Belt setting shapes what gets searched for

Gardens, hedges, trees and outdoor work are common here, given the village's setting along the Cray valley and its Green Belt surroundings.

04

They want proof of work nearby

Photographs of jobs finished on the lanes around North Cray reassure a resident faster than a general claim to cover Sidcup or Bexley.

North Cray

Once its own parish in the Hundred of Ruxley, today a village strip along the River Cray.

North Cray has never been a town in the way its bigger neighbours are — it is a small, historic Green Belt village strung along the Cray valley, and this page describes it that way.

Today
Before 1557

A parish in the Hundred of Ruxley

North Cray was its own parish, and absorbed the neighbouring parish of Ruxley in 1557 — the Hundred of Ruxley took its name from that older settlement.

1894–1934

An independent civil parish

North Cray stood on its own under Bromley Rural District, recording a population of 1,101 at the 1931 census, before merging to form Chislehurst and Sidcup.

1965

North Cray joins the London Borough of Bexley

With the creation of Greater London, North Cray became part of Bexley, still centred on St James' Church, the war memorial and The White Cross pub.

What this means for your website today

No high street, and we say so.

North Cray has never had a shopping parade, so a website here works harder on search rather than pretending to a town centre that isn't there.

Real, modest landmarks.

St James' Church, the war memorial and The White Cross pub are the village's genuine points of reference, and a site that names them accurately reads as more credible than one reaching for a bigger story.

A Green Belt setting, honestly described.

North Cray sits within the Metropolitan Green Belt along the Cray valley, so a site describes gardens, land and outdoor work accurately rather than assuming a dense residential street pattern.

Getting found locally

With no high street to be seen from, a North Cray business has to be found in search instead.

"Gardener north cray", "landscaper da14", "tree surgeon river cray" — each is someone searching a small, specific village. Website + SEO is the ongoing work of making sure that search finds you.

  • Local searches, agreed with you. We pick the three searches that matter most to your business — say, "gardener north cray", "landscaper da14" and "tree surgeon river cray" — and work on them every month.
  • Google Business Profile. Set up and kept current so you appear on the map for North Cray, with your hours, your work and a way to reach you.
  • Reviews from genuine customers. A simple way to ask satisfied customers for a Google review once a job completes — useful in an area small enough that word of mouth still carries real weight.
  • Pages that name North Cray honestly. Content that describes North Cray as the small, Green Belt village it is, rather than inflating it into a town it isn't.
  • A monthly report you can read. A straightforward account each month of what changed and what's next, written the way you'd explain a job to a client — in your Client Platform.

We never promise rankings or a number of customers. We do promise consistent, honest work on being found locally — and to show you exactly what we did.

Built for you

A small, honestly described village still needs a website that works. Web design in North Cray has to earn trust without overstating the place.

A church, a war memorial and a pub don't add up to a town centre, and a website shouldn't pretend otherwise. What it needs to do is be found by the right, small, specific search. A generic template can't tell the difference. We can.

Every PrimeStart website is designed from scratch and custom coded on WordPress in HTML and PHP — no page builders, no theme bought off a shelf with your name typed in. Built with the same care for a Green Belt village as for a busy high street.

“There's not much here beyond the church, the pub and the lanes along the Cray. The website has to be honest about that, or people stop trusting it.”

Request a call
Do you work with businesses based in North Cray?
Yes, along the village strip around St James' Church and the River Cray, between the Foots Cray and Bexley Village boundaries. Everything is designed, built and managed remotely, so there is no office to visit.
North Cray is very small. Is a website naming it specifically actually worth it?
If your customers are genuinely local, yes. A resident here searches the village directly, and a site that says so plainly reads as more accurate than one that defaults to Sidcup or Bexley, in line with Bexley Council's own Discover Bexley pages.
How much does a website cost with PrimeStart?
Website is £99.99 a month for 12 months with no upfront design fee, or £899.91 paid upfront for the year (save 25%). Website + SEO is £349.99 a month in total, or £3,149.91 paid upfront for 12 months of Website and SEO. For new agreements, after the first 12 months the website continues automatically at £49.99 a month for hosting and aftercare, with no new minimum term, unless you give 30 days' notice; Website + SEO continues at £299.99 a month while SEO is still running. Existing customers keep the pricing in their own agreement.
Do I own the website?
Yes. On the monthly plan the site is yours after the agreed 12-month term, subject to the contract. If you pay upfront you can choose an early handover once the site is complete and approved, or keep it managed with us.
Why doesn't North Cray have its own railway station?
It never developed the density of a town centre, and stayed a small Green Belt village. The nearest stations are Sidcup and Bexley, both reachable on the 492 bus route — we say so rather than implying a station that isn't there.
Can the site show our trade body membership and insurance clearly?
Yes. Trade body membership, public liability insurance and any accreditations you hold are set out as normal content, using the wording and any logos you're entitled to use.
How long until my site is live?
Once we have your details and photos we design your site, show it to you, make your amendments and go live only when you've approved it. You'll see the first design before anything is public.
