Web design at Charing Cross

Charing Cross has marked the centre of London since the nineteenth century. A website here trades on one of the busiest junctions in the country.

Charing Cross takes its name from the medieval hamlet of Charing and the Eleanor Cross that Edward I commissioned in 1291. The original stood for over 350 years until Parliament ordered its destruction in 1647; a Victorian Gothic replacement, designed by E. M. Barry, was unveiled outside Charing Cross station in 1865, and the point has served as the official centre from which distances from London are measured since the early nineteenth century. That makes Charing Cross one of the busiest, most passed-through junctions in the country, around Trafalgar Square, the station and a dense cluster of theatres and hospitality. We build the website that suits an area with footfall like that — for £79.99 a month with £0 upfront design fee — and we can work on your search visibility too.

Why a website

Heavy footfall brings heavy competition. A website is what turns passing awareness into an actual enquiry.

Charing Cross sees some of the highest footfall anywhere in London, between the station, Trafalgar Square and the surrounding theatres — but that also means dozens of businesses competing for the same passing attention.

01

They check a Charing Cross business looks properly established

Among heavy competition, a proper website with your name, your work and where you're based says you're a serious business, not one lost in the crowd.

02

They want to know you actually cover Charing Cross

With Covent Garden and the wider West End both close by, saying plainly that you work Charing Cross itself — or the wider area around it — saves a wasted enquiry either way.

03

They want to see the finished work

Photographs of real work or real events near Trafalgar Square do more to win trust than a general claim to cover "central London".

04

They want clear information before they commit

An enquiry form or booking link that reaches your phone catches the decision someone makes before they even reach the junction.

Charing Cross

A medieval royal monument, rebuilt once already, that has marked the centre of London for two centuries.

Charing Cross's status as the notional centre of London is centuries old and still shapes how the area functions today — a genuinely unique kind of footfall that most places never see.

King Edward I commissions the Eleanor Cross to mark his wife Eleanor of Castile's funeral route, sculpted by Alexander of Abingdon — the largest and most ornate of the whole chain.

The original cross is destroyed

After standing for more than 350 years, Parliament orders the cross's destruction during the English Civil War.

Becomes London's measuring point

Charing Cross becomes the official point from which road distances from London are measured, a role it has held ever since.

What it means for a business trading here today

Footfall like almost nowhere else.

Between the station, Trafalgar Square and the surrounding theatres, few UK locations see the volume of passing people Charing Cross does.

Competition to match.

That same footfall draws dozens of competing businesses — a website is what turns a passing glance into an actual booking or enquiry.

Genuinely served by council facilities.

The council-run Charing Cross Library sits right in the area — a small, real sign that Charing Cross is a place people live and work, not only pass through.

Getting found locally

Heavy footfall brings heavy competition, which makes being found on Google matter more, not less.

"Restaurant charing cross", "event venue trafalgar square", "photographer wc2" — searches that name the area directly, because it is one of the most recognised locations in the country. Website + SEO is the ongoing work of making sure that search finds you first.

  • Local searches, agreed with you. We pick the three searches that matter most to your business — say, "restaurant charing cross", "event venue trafalgar square" and "photographer wc2" — and work on them every month.
  • Google Business Profile. Set up and kept current so you appear on the map for Charing Cross, with your hours, your work and a way to reach you.
  • Reviews from genuine customers. A simple way to ask satisfied customers for a Google review once a visit or a job is done — a real edge among the volume of competitors here.
  • Pages for the area you actually trade in. Charing Cross itself, or Charing Cross alongside Covent Garden and the wider West End — written properly, not one page for the whole borough.
  • A monthly report you can read. A straightforward account each month of what changed and what's next, in your Client Platform.

We never promise rankings or a number of customers. We do promise consistent, honest work on being found locally — and to show you exactly what we did.

Do you work with businesses based at Charing Cross?
Yes, right around Trafalgar Square, the station and the surrounding stretch of the Strand and Charing Cross Road, including businesses that also cover Covent Garden and the West End. Everything is designed, built and managed remotely, so there is no office to visit.
Charing Cross has huge footfall already. Is a website still worth it?
Yes — footfall this heavy also brings heavy competition, much of it from businesses that search first rather than simply walk past. A website is what turns passing awareness into an actual enquiry.
How much does a website cost with PrimeStart?
Website is £79.99 a month for 12 months with no upfront design fee, or £815.90 paid once. Website + SEO is £349.99 a month in total, or £2,192.90 paid upfront. After the first 12 months, the service continues automatically at £49.99 a month with no new minimum term, unless you give 30 days' notice.
Do I own the website?
Yes. On the monthly plan the site is yours after the agreed 12-month term, subject to the contract. If you pay upfront you can choose an early handover once the site is complete and approved, or keep it managed with us.
Should the site just say "Westminster" instead of Charing Cross?
Only if that's honestly where you trade or want to be found. Charing Cross is one of the most recognised addresses in the country — naming it properly, alongside Covent Garden or the West End if you genuinely cover both, is worth more than a generic borough-wide claim.
How long until my site is live?
Once we have your details and photos we design your site, show it to you, make your amendments and go live only when you've approved it. You'll see the first design before anything is public.
