Web design for air conditioning companies

A loft bedroom and a server room are not the same enquiry.

Air conditioning is two businesses sharing a van. In a heatwave a homeowner with a loft bedroom nobody can sleep in is searching for this for the first time, and wants the cost, the mess, and whether it heats in winter too. In February a facilities manager with a comms room that cannot fail wants planned maintenance and someone who picks up. One website serves both, and we build it, host it and look after it.

  • Per month: £49.99
  • Upfront website design fee: £0

Illustration: a air conditioning companies pictogram beside an example website built for that trade.

Two customers

The homeowner buys once. The building buys every year.

Most air conditioning companies do both, and the two customers barely speak the same language. The site gives each of them their own door, their own words and their own form.

Homes

One room, one summer, one decision

A loft conversion, a home office in a box room, a conservatory unusable after two o'clock. They have never bought this before, so the questions are always the same: cost, where the outdoor unit goes, how loud it is, how much mess, and whether it heats the room in winter as well.

  • What a single-room install involves, start to finish, on one page
  • Heating as well as cooling, said early instead of buried
  • Outdoor unit position, noise and pipe runs answered before they ask
  • An enquiry form built around room sizes and a photograph
Buildings

Comfort, records and a number that gets answered

An office losing its afternoons, a restaurant kitchen, a salon, a comms room that has to stay cold. The buyer is an office manager or a managing agent, and they are not shopping for one job. They want an installer who will still be servicing those units in three years, and who answers when something fails on a Friday.

  • Systems by space: offices, retail, hospitality, comms rooms
  • Planned maintenance visits, and what each visit actually covers
  • F-Gas company certification and manufacturer partner status, where held
  • A separate route in for contract customers with a unit down

If you only do one of the two, the site says so in the first line and stops wasting the other one's time.

What you fit and maintain

One wall unit or a floor of cassettes. Both need explaining.

Numbered rather than tiled, because the list is the point. Every line works twice: a homeowner has to follow it, and a facilities manager has to believe it.

  1. 01

    Wall-mounted split systems

One indoor unit, one outdoor unit, cooling in summer and heating in winter, and what a fitting day actually involves.

    Installation
  2. 02

    Multi-split systems

Two, three or four rooms from one outdoor unit. When that is the sensible answer, and when two separate systems are better.

    Installation
  3. 03

    Ceiling cassettes and ducted systems

For offices, shops and open-plan extensions where nobody wants a box on the wall. Written for the person signing the order.

    Installation
  4. 04

    VRF and VRV systems

Multi-zone systems for larger offices and hospitality, with heat recovery explained in a paragraph instead of a datasheet.

    Installation
  5. 05

    Annual servicing

Filters, coils, condensate, refrigerant charge and a written record. The page says what is checked, so a service is not a mystery visit.

    Servicing and records
  6. 06

    Planned maintenance contracts

One or two visits a year and priority when something fails. What a contract customer gets that a one-off caller does not.

    Servicing and records
  7. 07

    Repairs and fault finding

The makes you are happy to work on, and an honest line about parts on older systems.

    Servicing and records
  8. 08

    Leak checks and statutory records

Refrigerant leak checking on systems over the thresholds, and the records a business has to hold. On the site only if you are F-Gas certified.

    Servicing and records
  9. 09

    Air source heat pumps

Listed only where you hold the certification, so the site never invites work you cannot carry out.

    Beyond air conditioning
  10. 10

    Commercial refrigeration and cold rooms

Cellar cooling, cold rooms and display cabinets. On the page if you take that work, off it if you do not.

    Beyond air conditioning

You tick what you offer during onboarding. Nothing you do not do appears, and nothing that needs a certification appears without one.

The enquiry

Two forms, because two customers cannot answer the same questions.

Most air conditioning enquiries arrive as three words: how much? The form asks what you would ask on the phone, so your reply is a real figure rather than a list of questions. Homeowners get one built around a room and a photograph. Buildings get this one.

  1. 1
Enough detail to price a visit

Room sizes and a photograph of the wall from a homeowner. Floor area, unit count, age and access hours from a business. Either way you can tell in ten seconds whether it is a job you want.

  2. 2
Survey first, then a fixed price

You look at the pipe run, the electrics and where the condenser can sit, then price it properly. The site explains that two-step process, so nobody expects an exact figure from a photograph.

  3. 3
    What happens on the day

How long a fitting takes, whether the power goes off, what gets drilled and how the room is left. Customers who know what is coming say yes faster.

Both forms land in your inbox and read properly on a phone at the side of a job. If you already run a job management system, the button can point at that instead.

Why the work changed

Air conditioning stopped being a summer trade.

For years the phone rang in July and went quiet by the end of September. That is not the business any more. Loft conversions and garden offices have put a room under the roof that is unusable for months, and the same wall unit that cools a bedroom in August will heat it in February, which is still the part most homeowners have no idea about.

The commercial half never had a season at all. Offices, salons, restaurants, shops and comms rooms need the units serviced whether the sun is out or not, and the records kept whether anyone asks for them or not. That work is booked in advance, priced per visit and renewed.

A website written only for the heatwave misses most of that. Yours is built so the servicing and contract pages are as strong as the installation ones, and so a facilities manager in Watford can tell from one screen that you look after buildings, not just bedrooms.

The site plan

Five pages, and the first click decides which half of the site you are in.

The plan almost writes itself: a home page that splits, a page for each customer, servicing where the contracts live, and one route to a price from anywhere.

Home

What you fit, who for and where, then the split: homes one way, buildings the other. Cooling and heating in the first line, because half your visitors do not know a split system does both.

More about the Client Platform

Illustration of the Client Platform for a fictional air conditioning companies business. SEO reporting is included with Website + SEO.

Website + SEO

The homeowner searches in July. The office manager searches in March.

Optional monthly work on how easily local customers find you, for three searches agreed with you. For air conditioning that is usually one installation search, one servicing search, and the sector you want more of.

  • £349.99/monthTotal. The website is included: the £49.99 Website is not added on top.
  • 3 searchesAgreed with you at the start. Additional agreed search targets are £50/month each.
  • Monthly workSearch and competitor research, website improvements, Google Business Profile work, local listings, technical monitoring and a clear monthly report in your Client Platform.
  • 6-month minimumAfter the SEO minimum you can continue, or stop the SEO work and keep the Website for the rest of its 18-month term. Every month of it counts towards both.
What we don’t promise

Rankings, a number of leads or a number of jobs. Nobody honest can. What SEO does is create more opportunities for suitable local customers to discover your business, and for enquiries and jobs to follow over time.

Three example searches

  1. air conditioning installation Watford
  2. air conditioning servicing Watford
  3. commercial air conditioning Watford

Illustrative results and example searches. Your three searches are agreed with you at the start, and no position is ever promised.

Already have a website you are happy with? Ongoing SEO is only available with the managed website, as Website + SEO — PrimeStart does not run SEO on a site it does not host. If you would rather keep your current site, talk to us first and we will tell you honestly whether moving it across is worth it.

The price

No design bill in the spring, before the season has paid for anything.

Air conditioning cash flow is lumpy, and a website invoice always seems to land in the quietest month. This is one monthly figure with a £0 upfront website design fee. Clear pricing, straightforward terms, no surprises.

For companies that want homes and commercial work kept apart, the certifications shown where they are looked for, and a proper enquiry route on every page.

Designers usually charge for the build before the website exists. We absorb that cost and recover it through the monthly service, which is why the plan carries a minimum term, and why there is nothing to pay up front beyond the first month.

Complete the term and the website is yours: stay with us on a rolling basis with no new minimum, or move it to hosting of your own.

How it works

Built between site visits. Your part is an evening.

Tell us the systems you fit, the sectors you work in, the certifications you hold and a handful of your own install photographs. We write the pages and build the site; you read the draft and say what to change.

See the full process, start to finish

  1. 1

    Choose your plan

Pick Website or Website + SEO. Your first monthly payment is taken at signup.

  2. 2

    Tell us about the business

A short onboarding in your Client Platform: services, areas, anything you want highlighted, your logo, any photos and the number you want calls to go to.

  3. 3

    Ready to Build

We check we have what we need. If something's missing we'll say exactly what, and work with what you have where we can.

  4. 4

    First draft

You see a working draft of your site, on desktop and phone, and tell us what to change.

  5. 5

    Approve and launch

Reasonable in-scope revisions, then you approve it. Nothing goes live until you say so.

Timing, stated properly

We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment alone doesn’t start the clock; missing details, revisions or domain delays can extend it.

Before you approve

You review the draft and request reasonable in-scope changes. If there’s a genuine problem we can’t put right within scope after reasonable attempts, we can cancel the agreement and refund Website subscription payments made, subject to any disclosed non-recoverable third-party costs.

What air conditioning companies ask before they start

How much does a website for an air conditioning company cost?
£49.99 a month, with a £0 upfront website design fee. Your first £49.99 is taken at signup and the Website runs on an 18-month minimum term: 18 payments of £49.99, £899.82 in total. That covers the design and build, managed hosting, your domain name, SSL, security, backups, WordPress and plugin updates, enquiry forms, basic Google foundations, reasonable small changes subject to fair use, support, and your own Client Platform. Complete the term and the website is yours: stay with PrimeStart at £49.99 a month rolling, with no new minimum term, or move it elsewhere.
Can I keep domestic and commercial work separate?
Yes, and we would push you to. Homes and buildings get their own pages, their own language and their own enquiry form, so a homeowner reading about a bedroom is never dropped into a paragraph about multi-zone systems. If you only take one of the two, we build the site around that and leave the other out.
Can you show my F-Gas certification and manufacturer partner status?
If you hold them, yes, and where people look for them rather than on a page nobody opens. F-Gas company certification, manufacturer partner or approved installer status, certification for heat pumps and your insurance all go on the site as you give them to us during onboarding. We never add a scheme, a logo or a brand you have not confirmed.
Is the domain name included?
Yes. Your domain name is registered and managed as part of the plan, and if you already own one we will use it. You never need to log into WordPress or a hosting account: PrimeStart looks after the technical side and you deal with one place, your Client Platform.
Can the site handle maintenance contract enquiries and breakdowns?
Yes. Contract customers can be given a clearly marked route in for a fault, and new contract enquiries come through the commercial form. If you carry out the five-yearly inspections larger systems require, and you are accredited for them, that gets a section of its own. The site is not a booking engine and never touches your diary; it makes sure the right message reaches you with the detail you need.
How quickly will I see a first draft?
We aim to have your first draft ready within 5 working days from Ready to Build, the point at which PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms the project can start. Payment and onboarding alone do not begin that period. You review the draft in your Client Platform, ask for changes, and nothing is published until you approve it.
What is SEO, and do I need it to start?
SEO is optional ongoing work on how easily local customers find you, at £349.99 a month in total with the website included rather than charged on top. Three priority searches are agreed with you, and the work covers your Google Business Profile, local listings and monthly improvements to the site. The SEO work runs on a 6-month minimum, and months of it count towards the 18-month Website term as well. Most air conditioning companies start on the Website and add SEO in late winter, so the visibility is there before the first warm week. Nobody can promise a position or a number of enquiries.
