Web design in Petts Wood

Petts Wood was planned as a suburb, down to paying for its own station. A website here should carry the same intention.

Petts Wood stayed almost entirely rural until the late 1920s, when developer Basil Scruby laid out the roads, paid the Southern Railway Company £6,000 to build Petts Wood station, and had shops and a cinema built alongside it — the parade that still runs along Queensway today. This was a suburb designed on purpose, not one that grew up around an older village, and it has kept a strong identity of its own ever since. We build the website that matches that intention, for £79.99 a month with £0 upfront design fee, and we can work on your search visibility too.

Why a website

A suburb built with this much intention deserves a website with the same standard.

Petts Wood was designed, not accidental — laid out roads, a paid-for station, a parade built to serve it. A generic website sits oddly against that history. A considered one belongs.

01

They want to know if you're actually near Queensway

With the parade concentrated around the station, saying plainly whether you're on Queensway itself or a short way out settles the question before anyone rings.

02

They check a Petts Wood business looks properly set up

A suburb built to this standard sets an expectation. A proper, custom-built website meets it; a generic template doesn't.

03

They want to see the finished work

Photographs of real jobs done around Petts Wood or nearby Orpington do more to win trust than a general claim to cover "BR5".

04

They want to enquire without picking up the phone

An enquiry form that reaches your phone catches the evening decision — someone comparing a couple of Petts Wood businesses after work, before they choose who to call.

Petts Wood

A wood named after shipbuilders, turned into a suburb by a developer who paid for its own station.

Petts Wood's history runs from a family of Tudor shipbuilders to a genuinely planned 1920s suburb — a story a website here should reflect properly.

Named after the Pett family

The name first appears as the wood belonging to the Pett family, Tudor shipbuilders who leased the woodland here for timber.

1872

Almost entirely rural

Only one house, "Ladywood", is recorded in the area — Petts Wood remained genuinely rural right up to the late 19th century.

1920s

Basil Scruby designs the suburb

Developer Basil Scruby lays out the road plan with architect Leonard Culliford and pays the Southern Railway Company £6,000 to build Petts Wood station, with individual plots built out by Noel Rees, Walter Reed and George Hoad.

1927

The wood itself is saved

88 acres of the original wood are bought by public subscription, later joined in 1957 by the 250-acre Hawkwood Estate and Edlmann Wood, both now held by the National Trust.

Today

A parade built to serve the station

The shops and cinema built alongside the station in the 1920s have grown into the parade that still runs along Queensway today.

What that means for you, trading here today

A designed suburb, not an accidental one.

Petts Wood was planned road by road, with a station its developer paid for outright — a level of intention a website here should match, not fall short of.

A parade with a name of its own.

The shops around the station sit on Queensway specifically, so saying exactly where you trade carries more weight here than a general "Petts Wood" claim.

Genuine green space close by.

Jubilee Country Park, bought by the council for the 1977 Silver Jubilee, sits alongside the National Trust wood — a genuine amenity worth naming honestly, without claiming any connection to it.

Getting found locally

"Petts Wood" is a specific search, and a specific suburb draws specific, well-informed comparisons.

"Dentist petts wood", "solicitor br5", "accountant queensway" — people searching Petts Wood by name usually already know the area well, so the website that answers them clearly wins the click. Website + SEO is the ongoing work of making sure that happens.

  • Local searches, agreed with you. We pick the three searches that matter most to your business — say, "dentist petts wood", "solicitor br5" and "accountant queensway" — and work on them every month.
  • Google Business Profile. Set up and kept current so you appear on the map for Petts Wood, with your hours, your work and a way to reach you.
  • Reviews from genuine customers. A simple way to ask satisfied customers for a Google review once a job is done — Petts Wood customers tend to check before they choose.
  • A page for the area you actually serve. Petts Wood itself, or the wider BR5 area around it — written honestly for wherever your customers genuinely are.
  • A monthly report you can read. A straightforward account each month of what changed and what's next, in your Client Platform.

We never promise rankings or a number of customers. We do promise consistent, honest work on being found locally — and to show you exactly what we did.

Built for you

A suburb built this deliberately deserves a website that's just as deliberate.

Petts Wood was planned road by road, station and all. A template that looks the same as everyone else's doesn't belong in a place built with this much intention. We build one that fits.

Every PrimeStart website is designed from scratch and custom coded on WordPress in HTML and PHP — no page builders, no theme bought off a shelf with your name typed in. Built with the same care Petts Wood itself was.

Do you work with businesses based in Petts Wood?
Yes, including businesses trading on Queensway near the station and those covering the wider BR5 area around Petts Wood. Everything is designed, built and managed remotely, so there is no office to visit.
Petts Wood was built as a planned suburb. Does that actually matter for my website?
It's part of the honest picture. Petts Wood residents and customers tend to know the area's own history well, and a website that gets the details right - Queensway, the station, the National Trust wood - reads as more credible than a generic one.
Should our website mention Jubilee Country Park or the National Trust wood?
If it's genuinely relevant to your business, yes - as a landmark, never as a claimed connection. We'll ask you honestly what's actually true and build the page around that.
How much does a website cost with PrimeStart?
Website is £79.99 a month for 12 months with no upfront design fee, or £815.90 paid once. Website + SEO is £349.99 a month in total, or £2,192.90 paid upfront. After the first 12 months, the service continues automatically at £49.99 a month with no new minimum term, unless you give 30 days' notice.
Do I own the website?
Yes. On the monthly plan the site is yours after the agreed 12-month term, subject to the contract. If you pay upfront you can choose an early handover once the site is complete and approved, or keep it managed with us.
How long until my site is live?
Once we have your details and photos we design your site, show it to you, make your amendments and go live only when you've approved it. You'll see the first design before anything is public.
