Web design for carpenters & joiners
Homeowners judge the finish. Builders judge the diary.
One customer is on her phone at nine at night comparing alcove units and deciding whether your shadow gaps look right. The other is a site manager with twenty-two doors to hang in March. A carpenter and joiner's website has to answer both in the first screen: the work, the jobs you take on, the area you cover and one obvious way to get in touch. We design it, build it, host it and look after it, with a £0 upfront website design fee.
- Per month: £49.99
- Upfront website design fee: £0

The work
Fitted, workshop, site: three kinds of work under one trade.
Most people cannot tell you whether they want a carpenter or a joiner, and in the North the words swap anyway. Your website settles it in a paragraph: what gets made on the bench, what gets built in the house, and what that means for their job.
- 01
Fitted, made for one space
Alcove units, wardrobes, media walls, window seats, under-stairs storage. Measured in the room, made to those numbers, scribed to a wall that is never plumb, and photographed where it was fitted.
- 02
Workshop joinery
Staircases, doors, sash windows, gates and one-off furniture, built square and flat on the bench and finished under proper light. The site states a lead time honestly, so nobody expects a staircase by Friday.
- 03
Site carpentry, first and second fix
Stud partitions, joists, roof timbers and floor decks; then door hanging, skirting, architrave and loft boarding. Usually for builders, priced by the day or the job rather than by the photograph.
- 04
Timber, board and finish
Oak, ash and walnut where the grain is the point; MDF and tulipwood for paint-grade; veneered board for carcasses. Sprayed, hand-painted, oiled or lacquered, and named so a customer can ask a sensible question.
- 05
Survey, drawing, sign-off
A measure-up, a sketch or a CAD drawing, a written price and a design signed off before anything is cut. That is what makes a stranger comfortable ordering furniture that cannot be sent back.
You tell us which of these you want more of. A one-van second-fix carpenter and a three-bench joinery shop get different websites, not the same one with different photographs.
Two customers
Two customers land on the same website wanting opposite things.
A homeowner and a site manager both find you on Google, and neither wants the page the other one wants. The site is built so each gets to the right place in a tap, and so your inbox tells you which is which.
Decides with their eyes, then asks the price
An awkward chimney breast, a figure in mind and a folder of saved photographs. They want to see wardrobes you have fitted in rooms like theirs before they send a message.
- Gallery first, captioned with the room, the timber and the finish
- Priced as a project after a measure-up, never invented on the phone
- The enquiry asks for rough sizes, a photo of the space and a date
- Reviews and qualifications beside the form, where the doubt is
Decides on availability and reliability
A site manager with a programme to hit is not browsing your gallery. They want to know you take on first and second fix, that your cover and cards are current, and whether you are free.
- A trade page that lists the work plainly, with no gallery in the way
- Day-rate and per-job work described as what it is
- Insurance, cards and site experience near the top, not buried
- An enquiry that asks for the site, the dates and the scope
If you only want one of these customers, the site only asks for one. Most joiners want both, in different proportions, and the pages reflect that.
Where you work
Coverage is not one radius when half the work comes back three times.
A fitted job needs a survey, a delivery and a fitting day, so the practical circle around a workshop is tighter than it is for a fortnight of second fix on one site. Saying so saves you evenings spent pricing work you were never going to take.
- One coverage line, written honestly
The towns you work in, on every page, in the words people search: the city, the market towns around it and the areas between.
- A wider circle for contract work
Second fix for a builder travels further than a fitted wardrobe. The site says so rather than leaving a main contractor to guess.
- Google told the same thing
Your Google Business Profile, your service areas and the website all have to agree on where you work.
- York and the ring-road villages
- Harrogate and Knaresborough
- Wetherby and Tadcaster
- Malton, Selby and Pickering
Illustrative coverage for a York joinery workshop. Yours is written from the towns you want the work in.
The gallery
The gallery is the sales pitch. Give it the full width.
Joinery photographs better than almost any other trade, and a grid of thumbnails wastes it. The filmstrip scrolls sideways on a phone as easily as a laptop, so each piece arrives large with the room, the timber and the finish named underneath.

Photographs here are illustrative. Your gallery uses your own work, captioned with the room, the timber and the finish.
Your site plan
Five pages, in the order joinery is actually bought.
Work first, because that is what people came to see. Then the three kinds of job, so a customer sorts themselves before writing to you. Then who you are, and a considered way to get in touch.
Home
Your best fitted piece across the top, what you make and fit, the towns you cover and one obvious way to enquire.
- Best work first
- Bench and site
- Enquire
Fitted furniture
Alcoves, wardrobes, media walls and storage, each shown in the room it was made for, with a line on the awkward wall it solved.
- Alcoves
- Wardrobes
- Storage
Workshop joinery
Staircases, doors, sash windows and one-off pieces, with the timber, the finish and an honest lead time beside each.
- Staircases
- Doors
- Timber and finish
Trade and site work
First and second fix for builders: what you take on, how you price it, the cover you carry and when you are free.

About and contact
Who you are, what you hold, any reviews you already have, and an enquiry form built for made-to-measure work.
- Qualifications
- Insurance
- Enquiry form
Generally up to five pages on Website, planned around how your customers choose.
Need something extra later? No problem. PrimeStart customers can order additional services such as extra pages, branding and one-off optimisation through their client dashboard whenever they need them.
Credentials
The certificates do not win the job. They settle the last doubt.
A joiner's reputation is finished work and word of mouth. What a certificate does is reassure someone in the ten seconds before they book a survey, so it belongs beside the enquiry form rather than across the home page.
We display exactly what you hold, and nothing more. No borrowed badges, no invented ratings, and no "master craftsman" unless a body has actually awarded it.
Things we'll display if you hold them
- City & Guilds or NVQ in carpentry and joinery
- Institute of Carpenters membership
- British Woodworking Federation membership, if you manufacture
- Guild of Master Craftsmen membership
- CSCS card and site experience, for contract work
- Public liability insurance, with the level you carry
- FSC or PEFC certified timber, and reviews wherever they live
Scheme names are used for illustration. You provide the details of what you hold during onboarding.
Your Client Platform
One place to watch it being built, and to ask for a change.
Every PrimeStart customer gets their own Client Platform. It is where the project lives: the stage it has reached, what we still need from you, the draft to look through, and the button that says you are happy with it.
- Follow the build stage by stage, without emailing to ask
- Send photographs of finished pieces straight from your phone
- Message PrimeStart directly, with the thread in one place
- Preview the draft on desktop and phone, and mark up changes
- Approve the website before anything goes live
- Ask for changes afterwards, and order services when you need them
- See your SEO report, tracked searches and recommendations each month (Website + SEO)
Nothing technical to learn: one login to your Client Platform, and no WordPress admin to keep track of.

Website + SEO
The searches that bring wardrobes, and the searches that bring staircases.
Website + SEO is optional monthly work on how easily local customers find you, aimed at three searches agreed with you. For a joiner those three usually split between the piece people search for by name, the trade word your area uses, and the higher-value work you would rather be doing.
- £349.99/monthTotal. The website is included: the £49.99 Website is not added on top.
- 3 searchesAgreed with you at the start. Additional agreed search targets are £50/month each.
- Monthly workSearch and competitor research, website improvements, Google Business Profile work, local listings, technical monitoring and a clear monthly report in your Client Platform.
- 6-month minimumAfter the SEO minimum you can continue, or stop the SEO work and keep the Website for the rest of its 18-month term. Every month of it counts towards both.
Rankings, a number of leads or a number of jobs. Nobody honest can. What SEO does is create more opportunities for suitable local customers to discover your business, and for enquiries and jobs to follow over time.
- 01“fitted wardrobes York”
Someone with an awkward bedroom and an evening to spend on photographs, comparing you with a national wardrobe company. What wins is a room like theirs shown properly, and a form that asks only for sizes and a date.
- 02“joiner York”
The trade word most of the North actually types, and the widest of the three. It brings everything from a sticking door to a staircase, so the site has to sort them quickly.
- 03“staircase makers York”
Far fewer searches, far higher value, and a customer who will read the workshop page twice before ringing. The search worth being visible for if you want more of the work you enjoy.
Examples only. If site carpentry pays better than fitted furniture, or you would rather be found for bespoke joinery than door hanging, the three searches are agreed around the work you want and what people near you type.
Already have a website you are happy with? Ongoing SEO is only available with the managed website, as Website + SEO — PrimeStart does not run SEO on a site it does not host. If you would rather keep your current site, talk to us first and we will tell you honestly whether moving it across is worth it.
The price
The same joinery website, with or without the monthly SEO work.
Start with the Website: designed, built, hosted and looked after, with your work shown at the size it deserves. Choose Website + SEO when you want PrimeStart working every month on how local customers find it. Clear pricing. Straightforward terms. No surprises.
A professional carpentry and joinery website, built around your work and the two kinds of customer who buy it.
Designers usually charge for the build before the website exists. We absorb that cost and recover it through the monthly service, which is why the plan carries a minimum term, and why there is nothing to pay up front beyond the first month.
Complete the term and the website is yours: stay with us on a rolling basis with no new minimum, or move it to hosting of your own.

How it works
Your part takes less time than a glue-up.
Choose a plan, send us photographs of your best pieces and a few facts about the business, then tell us what to change on the draft. We write the words and build the pages.
- 1
Choose your plan
Website, or Website + SEO. Your first monthly payment is taken at signup and the upfront website design fee is £0.
- 2
Send us the work
A short onboarding in your Client Platform: the jobs you take on, the towns you cover, your photographs, your logo if you have one, and the number enquiries should reach.
- 3
Ready to Build
We check we have what we need. If a photograph is missing or a service needs a decision, we say exactly what, and work with what you have where we can.
- 4
First draft
You see a working draft on desktop and phone, gallery and trade page and enquiry form, and tell us what to change.
- 5
Approve and launch
Reasonable in-scope changes, then you approve it. Nothing goes live until you say so.
We aim to have your first website draft ready within 5 working days once PrimeStart has everything needed and confirms your project is Ready to Build. Payment alone doesn’t start the clock; missing details, revisions or domain delays can extend it.
You review the draft and request reasonable in-scope changes. If there’s a genuine problem we can’t put right within scope after reasonable attempts, we can cancel the agreement and refund Website subscription payments made, subject to any disclosed non-recoverable third-party costs.
