Web design for businesses in Forest Gate

Your neighbourhood is named after a gate that was taken away, so the name gives a customer nothing to aim at.

A Forest Gate site built on Woodgrange Road, not on a vanished gate, for £49.99 a month.

  • Website: £49.99/month
  • Website design fee: £0 upfront
  • Minimum term, then it is yours: 18 months

Woodgrange Road is findable. A gate that was removed is not.

The most useful searches here name the road, the station or the estate rather than the area. Ongoing SEO is monthly work on three agreed searches like these.

An illustration of the kind of local results SEO works towards. The businesses, ratings and positions shown are examples, not a ranking or a result for any particular business.

  1. 01
    “restaurant forest gate

The area search, which works reasonably here but tells a customer nothing about where to walk, because the gate the name refers to no longer exists.

  2. 02
    “barber woodgrange road

The actual trading street, running north from Romford Road, and the most precise thing a customer in E7 can type.

  3. 03
    “plumber near forest gate station

A station search, useful because the Elizabeth line has changed how people arrive here and the station is the fixed point they arrive at.

Examples only. The three searches are agreed with you around the work you want more of and what people on Woodgrange Road actually type. Nobody can promise a position, and we don't.

Forest Gate

A high street on Woodgrange Road, and a conservation estate beside it.

The name is literal. A gate was placed across the modern Woodford Road to prevent cattle straying from the open Wanstead Flats area of Epping Forest onto the main Roman road, and the earliest record of it is in West Ham parish registers of the late 17th century. Wanstead Flats still borders Forest Gate to the north, but the gate itself is long gone, which leaves the name pointing at something a customer cannot see.

The trading is on Woodgrange Road, running north from Romford Road, and it is independent, food-led and service-led rather than chain retail. Forest Gate station has an unusual history for a stop now on the Elizabeth line: it opened in 1840, closed in 1843, and reopened after pressure from local residents on 31 May 1846. Trains run westbound to Paddington and eastbound to Shenfield.

Beside the high street is the Woodgrange Estate, built over a period of 15 years from 1877 to 1892 by Thomas Corbett and his sons, comprising 1,160 houses, and designated a Conservation Area. Emmanuel Church was established in 1852 and St Mark's dates to 1893-1898. The 2011 census recorded 33,619 residents across the Forest Gate North and Forest Gate South wards combined. Between the road, the estate and the station there is plenty for a page to be specific about, which matters when the area name itself refers to a missing object.

Two ways to start on Woodgrange Road.

A professional website, or that website with ongoing SEO from the start. Both name the road, the station and the estate, because the area name points at something that was removed.

A restaurant on Woodgrange Road and a nursery in the Woodgrange Estate streets serve the same neighbourhood from different sides of it, and both are easier to find by street than by area name.

Questions from Forest Gate businesses

Do you build websites for businesses in Forest Gate?
Yes, for the independents, restaurants, trades and services on Woodgrange Road and the E7 streets around it. Everything is designed, built and managed remotely, so there is no office to visit.
Why name Woodgrange Road rather than Forest Gate?
Both, but the road first where it matters. Forest Gate is named after a cattle gate on what is now Woodford Road that no longer exists, so the name gives a customer no landmark. Woodgrange Road is the actual high street and the thing people walk down.
Does the Elizabeth line change anything for us?
It changes who can reach you. Forest Gate station now runs westbound to Paddington and eastbound to Shenfield, so customers arrive from much further away than they used to, and they arrive at the station rather than driving to the road. Naming the station explicitly is worth more than it used to be.
We already have a website we like. Can you just do the SEO?
No. SEO is not sold on its own any more — it is only available as part of Website + SEO, £349.99 a month in total, and that means building you a new PrimeStart website rather than adding search work onto the one you have now. A business on Woodgrange Road would be starting from the same place as everyone else here: a new site built around the trade, with the SEO work running from day one rather than retrofitted onto what already exists. Nobody can promise rankings, and we don't.
What does a Forest Gate business website cost?
Website is £49.99 a month with a £0 upfront design fee, and it costs the same in E7 as anywhere else. The first £49.99 is taken at signup, and there is an 18-month minimum term, £899.82 in total. Once that term is complete, the website is yours.
How does ongoing SEO work?
Website + SEO is £349.99 a month total, with the website included rather than charged on top. Each month we work on three agreed local searches, for example "barber woodgrange road" or "restaurant forest gate", alongside your Google Business Profile and the website itself. Nobody can promise rankings, and we don't.
Is this the same as the Manor Park page?
No, though the same family built both estates. The Manor Park page covers Romford Road in E12 and the Durham Road Conservation Area, designated in 1984. This page covers Woodgrange Road, the station and the 1,160-house Woodgrange Estate.
